Hands down my favorite metal bassist; plenty of bass solos, but at the same time, he knows when to step back and play a supporting role. And the tone...... |

I still hate them, but their sound is definitely maturing... if that's possible for a band that sounds like it's perpetually reaching into the hearts of high school girls who want to be edgy without weirding out their conservatively mainstream friends.
Solid bassist, but I don't know what you mean about moving in and out of the guitars, he's almost always just doubling one of the guitar parts or playing roots or something. Not particularly interesting parts at all, though they are certainly well played.
Maybe the two songs I listened to didn't represent the album? Afterman and... some song with the word Destitute in the title. Quote:

Time may tell if its a classic, but I can see myself listening for the bass lines time and time again. | |

Some really brilliant basslines in all of them, with The Aura and Fragmentary evidence stepping up the technicality and A Perfect Absolution holding back at points to really support the music.

And Tony Levin on the 1980's King Crimson albums: Discipline, Beat, Three of a perfect pair.
"What's Goin' On" is almost unfair to bring up. That's a cornerstone of bass playing. |
