I love P-Funk. I've been listening to them pretty much non-stop since I got my first album by them. I really dig their grooves and funk and the cool George Clinton raps and interstellar philosophy and all that.
Lately my favorites have been
Funkadelic - Uncle Jam Wants You
Parliament - Funkytelechy vs. The Placebo Syndrome
It doesn't matter who's playing bass, Bootsy or Boogie, cause both of them funk and then keep on funkin.
Again i say, I love me some Parlimentary Funkifying jams. |

Here's a pretty cool documentary about the whole Parliament / Funkadelic thing (54 mins long) on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7yyT7K-5jg

has anyone heard of unclejam? there heavly influenced by p-funk and are the closest thing to funk in the charts for a long time, and i take it thats where they got there name from lol |

It features (IMHO) George Clinton's best opening monologue ("I say 7UP!", "Funk not only moves, it RE-moves!"). The bass lines are awesome too as are the arrangements. I find Bootsy's bass lines (or Cordell Mosson I can never tell who is who on those recordings) a bit subtle and not so in your face. Whoever it is on those p-funk records is grooving his ass off! |

"Yo, this is mood control, sayin you might as well pay attention. You can't afford free speech. Mood control is designed to render funkable. Ideas brought to you by the makers of Mr. Prolong, better known as urge overkill. The pimping of the pleasure priciple. Oh, we'll be pecking lightly, like a woodpecker with headache, ya dig?"

They're still playing "There's Hope" around here.
Back to the thread subject: I love Clones of Dr. Funkenstein and Hardcore Jollies too. My two favorite P-funk basslines are Night of the the Thumpasaurus People and Bop Gun.

Ohhh W-E-F-U-N-K, We Funk" |
