Who else is listening to The Cardigans?

I've been listening to their album Life for a while now and I really love it. I'm always surprised, because I normally don't go for stuff that's "light", but I think their songwriting is fantastic and original, and their "sound palatte"(sp?) is too. I just got Gran Turismo, and though I don't like it as much, it's a great album.

Interesting note; the bassist and guitarist were both metal musicians until they grew tired of it and decided to form a pop band. (Note the 2 Black Sabbath covers they recorded...)

I like Long Gone Before Daylight. I'm not sure if it's their most recent but it's newer than Gran Turismo. I like all their stuff but I lean towards Long Gone because they've gone for a more natural and less produced sound than before. The songwriting is great... I love the melancholy quality in the vocals.

Thanks for the update Thurisarz. Imagine that! of the thousands of TB members all over the world, this thread has a wee few from Hawaii, S. Africa, Scweden, and Maryland.

As already implied, it's probably an old Fender. I know the guitarist is a vintage collector, so it wouldn't surprise me if some of his passion has rubbed off on the bassist as well.

About The Cardigans, I've never been a fan for some reason. I've seen them a few times, and often like their singles the first few times I hear them on the radio. But something about them makes me loose interest after a short while. I can see why they're popular though. Their songs are good and solid, just not quite up my alley.

Cool! I didn't think anyone remembered Cloudberry Jam! They were never big in Sweden, hardly even known in their home town (which is also where I come from), though quite popular in Japan for a while.

Komeda, on the other hand, must be one of the best Swedish pop groups ever, along with Eggstone.

Have you heard the A Camp album.
Had Nina from the Cardigans singing on it.
Pretty good.

And now one more from Germany...

I like the cardigans very much, great songs! I love the bassline & sound on "Lovefool". He's playing so minimalistic and the whole line is completely checked out and the sound is so fat with that filter thing going on...
