whoa!tiger - "three coins"

Hi everybody,

Just wanted to share my band's latest single/video, called "Three Coins". The bass in the vid is the same as the one on the recording, an '87 MIJ Fender P with a Bill Lawrence P-46 pup.

Went both direct and mic'ed in the studio, with a GB Shuttle 6.0/NEOX-112T rig. The final track used a mix of both the mic and direct.

As always, I'd appreciate any feedback! Hope you dig the track!

Nice tone, Clean recording!

Edit:
Are you satisfied with the new PU or do you regret the stock ones (if you ever recorded with them on)?

flypejose, I'm very much digging the P-46 so far, although I've only recorded this one song with it, while I recorded a whole album with the stock pups back in 2009.

I was always fine with the overall tone of the stock pups, but they were a bit "soft" in the lowest notes. It was never a big deal in the mix on the 2009 project, because the kick drum served as the initial attack, but I always wished for a but more low end punch and authority on the gig. The P-46 seems to deliver this so far.

Thanks for the kind comments!

Reviving this old thread to note that we remastered this song and included it on our new album, called “The Rollout”. All of the other songs on “The Rollout” were recorded with the 62RI pickup that I’ve got in the bass now, so if you listen to samples on iTunes or AmazonMP3.com, you can get a sense of how the 62RI compares to the Bill Lawrence (not counting differences in studio treatments between the two, which I can’t really speak to).
