Sometimes I wonder why some bassists record the videos they do?

thats the best thing Ive heard in awhile! on a completely unrelated note, I still have that ATK you sold me forever and 2 years ago. still my main player

back to the post at hand. I mean, I get where you're coming from, but kids make little videos and post them on youtube. its part of their generation. maybe she's genuinely proud of what she did. I dunno. It was terrible though. almost as bad as walking into a GC and heading over to the basses section

Hey, did you get that ATK shielded? I thought it sounded great, but it was pretty noisy. I'm glad you really like it!

I know she was just a kid, but it was just funny to me because the video seemed pointless.

Man, I remember getting to that stage when I was on my training wheels and being really stoked. Feels good, I told everyone.

I'm happy for her! And we need more oestrogen all up in this instrument, it's mostly old fat dudes who reckon they're the **** because they can rock Brown Eyed Girl in some cover band on the weekend. Don't discourage her

Not bad for 5 lessons and a month. Kinda cute too. TB needs more bassist like her to balance out the jaded old farts.

funny thing is. I didnt ever get it shielded, but at some point the ground wire from cavity to bridge came loose. so perhaps thats what it was. I fixed that, as well as tampered a lot with the seymour duncan preamp. right now its running the preamp but with no control. it sounds good as is, but I want something new. I ordered an audere 3zb for it which should be here soon. got a new battery box and jack to install, as well as copper tape for shielding. its getting a major electronics overhaul. at some point I repolished the frets and man it looks killer. altogether very nice for a 15 year old bass.

sorry for the interruption, back to scheduled programming.

I wish her well. I just thought it was funny. It was almost the unintentional version of a video of Justin Meldal-Johnsen with Beck where he pretended that he had just figured out how to slap while playing the track. Trust me, I'm not that good myself!

Vid girl, if you see this ... Good job! Keep practicing, it is hard work but in time it is worth it to see people waging their butts to your grooves! You go girl! Cheers.

I don't know - maybe not enough parents are telling their kids that they love them these days. It seems as if hoards of people are throwing up videos/tweets/facebook pages/etc. in an effort to say, "look I'm here! It's ME! Don't you like ME?". It's kind of sad, really...

That video was like a progress report. "On such and such a day, I was this good."

The Internet is going to be the younger generations' photo albums. Think of all the collected, shared content someone who is like 10 is going to have access to for years and years to come.

i dont care...she doesnt look like a girl thats trying to big herself up...she possibly just wants some encouragement..

hey i know its just a forum ...maybe im being over sensitive but as a musician/bassist i expect more from fellow ones.. there is a great world out there and youtube can make it even bigger with no personal integration...a bit like texting, there is not alot of emotion...if we were all in a room would you say the same.. glad you liked the tunes Dr Cheese...

PS..i dont mean to come across as a lecturer, of the holly and moral..

All is vanity...A generation goes, and a generation comes...

What has been is what will be,
and what has been done is what will be done,
and there is nothing new under the sun.

Nothing new about it, except the medium.

“Utterly meaningless!
Everything is meaningless.”

But the medium, in today's society, seems to be everything. Marshall Mcluhan never knew just how right he would be in the 21st century. The medium really is the message these days.

...Yeah, and think of all the crap the rest of us are going to have to sift through when we're looking for something decent.

I guess I'm looking like a bully for starting this thread, but my question stands. We all should ask ourselves "why?" before we post. In the case of the young lady slapping, I bet should could have posted herself playing a nice 12 bar blues or maybe played along with a song. It's never too early to be musical, and not just show chops or a lick.
