I'm sure this is old and has been posted a billion times, maybe not, but I haven't seen it. I came across this vid earlier, figured I'd post it. Some good stuff. He solos on every way you can play the bass, pretty amazing. Check it out.

Yeah, I've seen that one before! It's the perfect vid that shows just how versatile a bassist Victor Wooten is. Some folks ONLY see his DT technique and not much else! I've said it before and I'll say it again.......he can pretty much play anything and any style of music he wants!

Yeah, actually it begins before that. It is Sex in a Pan (named after a dessert they had in the Carolina's somewhere).

May not be Michael Manring doing fingerstyle and harmonics (hey, doesn't need to be), but still awesome and great feel. Always great when someone has great chops and great feel, though that need not be clarified over Vic's style.

This is on the 'Special Features' on his Bass day 98 DVD - it's such a good 'extra' on the disc (most Hudson Music DVDs have great extras by the way) and I think it's about as close as we've had to a full instructional thing - aside from his Super Solo Bass video which came out a long time ago - it'd be interesting to see a Bass Nature Camp DVD I think. I'd sort of like to go to that but I can't afford it - it'd be nice to see some of that 'holistic' teaching revealed.

after quite some time doing his thing I still don't get some of his rythmic jugglings, like the stuff right after 1.00 minutes of the movie...

....mind blowing

Check out the Victor Wooten / Carter Beauford Making Music DVD.
It's got a lot of instructional stuff, mostly on band playing and groove.
Also there is bonus material where he talks about the bass/nature camp (but I don't think it is the camp) and he alsot talks some technique.
Good DVD.
V. expensive here in Norway, alas.

While I'm not a huge fan of modern day pyro-technic playing, I find that video to be absolutely AWESOME!!! Of all the cats doing that stuff, he still has the best feel, groove, and is always melodic....that's just my opinion...

Yeah, he is a natural born talent. I mean it isn't like he had to start playing when he was 5(or close?), and he probably only needs to play 5 or 6 days a week and not the full 7. It must be nice to not have to work at something, and have it all come naturaly.

Vic may have more natural ability then the rest of us, but give him credit. No matter how much talent you have you don't get to where he is without a LOT of hard work. I'm sure if any one of us had the hours with our fingers on the strings he does, we would be able to hold our own.

The only thing stopping any of us from being where we want to be is hard work and dedication.

I tihnk i like his two hand tapping stuff best. Double thumb is cool when he doesnt overdo it, I know sometimes its hard not to get carried away though Great player, for sure. Not one of my personal favorites, I'm more of a Marcus guy, but i love watching him play nonetheless. Not much for the fodera tone either.
