***!! Kerplunk remaster is horrible!

Sign in to disble this ad
So while cruising around the net, I found myself a nice little copy of the 2007 Green Day Kerplunk remaster (its legal... trust me).

Anyway, i opened up Welcome to Paradise and was appalled!

The production is so funky it sounds re-recorded - and a bad one at that.

Anyone have any information regarding this remaster?

they remastered? ....why? can't say i've heard it.

Not all remasters are bad though. The remaster of Bad Religion's "Suffer" gives the album some new life to it.

I know Green Day pulled their catalog from Lookout! after it hemorrhaged hundreds of thousands of dollars in other band's royalties. I did some research and, as expected, their current label, Reprise, reissued it. Looks like just about a week after the New Year began.

I don't know anything else apart from that, though remastering tends to ruin punk albums. Especially ones like Kerplunk where the charm lies partly in it's raw quality.

thanks for the info.

and as far as this remaster, the bass is mixed down and all the treble's been taken out of the tone.

that and the guitars sound like they are coming out of a 2" speaker.

pity!

and some remasters CAN bring an album to new life, but not this time!

Man, Bad Religion needs to remaster "Into the Unknown". I'd buy it.

*shudder*

I was never that into them, but hearing Greg Graffin get really into singing about swans and such really weirded me out.
