X JAPAN's use of orchestral backing predates metallica, discuss

For those who want to download X Japan version of "Fugue in Gm" by J.S Bach (This 11 minutes rock epic known as "Rose Of Pain" since Yoshiki turns it into a rock version).

It is a live version played with Symphony & Musical Orchestra (Yes X did it way before Metallica did it, and im sure there's some other rock band did it way before X did it) in 1991.

I only rip off Rose Of Pain from the "X with Orchestra" concert. There are other songs like Blue Blood, Silent Jealousy, Endless Rain, Kurenai and Say Anything.

Very interesting, for those who heard "Fugue In Gm" by J.S Bach before, "Rose Of Pain" is based entirely on Fugue In Gm scale and progression, just that Yoshiki remake it into "rock" version with lyrics and several guitar solo's by hide and Pata.

Download it (8mb) below.

"I doesn't matter who did it first, it's who got popular doing it." -Idiots

I'm sure other's did it before these guys.

P.S. I feel that Metallica's S&M album was a flop, the band and the orchestra totally clashed 90% of the time.

Well I gotta say most people outside of Japan probably don't know who X-Japan is anyway, and i don't think X Japan is that good anyway, way too cheesy 80's metal for my taste. If you want japanese rock and baroque mixed listen to some Malice Mizer

Well, X Japan is legendary Japanese rock band. It is well known to many other country like France, Germany, Brazil and some european countries. They also hugely well known in asia. The thign is they get known after their dissolvement in 1997, before that a little of european country knows them.

The album KISS MY ASS in 1994, the track BLACK DIAMOND is played by Yoshiki (Drummer,Pianist of X/XJapan).

"Final Destination" & "Foreign Sand" is a solo project by Yoshiki and Roger Taylor (drummer of Queen). It was listed in Roger's solo album

In Yoshiki's solo project "Eternal Melody", all the tracks was a work of Yoshiki with George Martin and London Philharmonic Orchestra

Yoshiki's own a record company in Los Angelas name Extacy Records that produced band like Abandoned Pools and many others

".. and any music composed by my friend, Yoshiki" - Paris Hilton

This is some work Yoshiki's done outside Japan. For the guitarist of X Japan, hide. He works with bands like Zilch in USA.

The reason for them not succesfull to breakthrough american market (Loudness did it) is because of their glamish image. Which in Japan known as Visual Rock.
