Thanks for waking my old Roundabout thread guys and gals!
I'm in a "Yes period" and since i only got two records with them, "Fragile" and "Drama", i wonder if you can recommend records with some classic Squire basslines in it. Time period doesn't matter as long as it's rips |

I really like this album 'cause Squire is all over the place, and Peter Banks doesn't "get in the way" as much as Howe does IMO. and Squire's tone on this and "TIME AND A WORD" is not quite together yet(almost), and is really NASTY sometimes.
Also, do you have "FISH OUT OF WATER"?

Kind of a darker side of prog rock then YES....this is the band that the original drummer Bill Bruford left YES for....
Starless and bible black
Red
John Wetton had a very cool, overdriven raunchy bass style, similar to Chris Squire. |

There's another thread on the same topic. Look here: I'm about to go buy some YES but I have no clue what to buy! Help needed fast! |

The Yes Album (Yours is No Disgrace, Starship Trooper)
Fragile (Heart of the Sunrise, The Fish, Roundabout)
Close to the Edge (All songs)
and then there's the more obscure Relayer which is one of my favorites. Sound Chaser is just sick!! |

| | | | About Yessongs-
Thanks to the last great Yes thread(about a month ago), I finally picked that up.
In that last thread, someone mentioned how the 're-mastered' Yessongs was not as good as the earlier version.
I would have to agree; not 'unlistenable', just not as enjoyable as it coulda been.

I like Yesshows better than Yessongs. The sound quality is much better, and it's representative of their Tales/Relayer period material.
These albums are more complex and difficult to get into than the earlier and later stuff, which is why most people always refer to you Fragile and The Yes Album. They probably haven't been able to get into the more hardcore prog. |
