Your thoughts on Queensryche's new album?

I have to say that I was really disappointed with this album. I even liked Mindcrime 2 better. Its really sad to hear them sound like this, their earlier albums were amazing. Operation Mindcrime is one of my favorite albums of all time

Queensryche?

I buried them shortly after Empire...the mourning was quite painful, but there are great albums to remember them, Eddie Jackson had the most badass growl and super rockstar looks in his Spector era.

Edit: It was a GREAT band, but something happened when DeGarmo left, besides Jackson´s white Spector was stolen and without that "mojo" the band was not the same

As much as I love them, they just seemed to lose something when DeGarmo left as was stated. They've never been the same since. I haven't been able to get into the recent stuff too much.

Eddie Jackson's Mindcrime tone started my love of Spectors (up to 4 now).

Same here unfortunately, old fav band but they seem to loose more by every album. The latest one sounded better than mind crime 2 (which in my opinion sounds more like a demo made exclusively with presetted pods..) but the songs on american soldier are def lacking a lot (can't stand the out of tune female vocals on home again).

Such a shame, they have potential but they lost the drive/hunger somewhere.

I knew a guy who worshipped the ground they walked on. The guy was such a douchebag that I had no choice but to hate everything about them.

C'mon - you all know how that works!

I actually liked some of promised land though it was a bit whiny at times. I haven't heard anything after that.

Eddie and his Spector rules....but I have to agree...it all went to shite after Empire...even though there are some songs I love on Promised Land, Hear in The Now Frontier, and Tribe. They will always be one of my favorite bands, and I still get chills when I hear Geoff Tate sing "Take Hold of the Flame" live.

it kinda makes you feel bad to see a really great band deteriorate, i had an "only-queensryche" phase a year ago. the female vox on home again are sun by tates 10 year old daughter.

I do love Take Cover, though. Maybe they should do that.

Turn into a cover band and cover Journey every Saturday night like most of us

Never heard Tate's daughter sing but the chick singing on Operation Mindcrime is stone awesome. That song where she duets with Tate gives me chills every time I hear it.

Ah ok! That explains it, the vocal line that she does might be too hard for a 10 year old (unless you´re one of those freakishly gifted ones). But perhaps this is the root cause of the lack of drive. They all settled down, got happy and comfortable with life (family etc) and that reflects in their music. No rebellion anymore...
