I'm very curious as to what types of music fellow TBers are listening to these days, and since it's almost the end of 2007, I figured I might as well ask. Worst that could happen is that my topic gets deleted for being stupid. Anyway, let's see what your 10 favorite albums released this year are. Feel free to just list, or give a little explanation as to why you like the albums if you like.
I know some people here probably don't like much music today, but I'm sure quite a few of you here are like myself, getting into new music all the time.
1) Coheed & Cambria - Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV Volume Two: No World For Tomorrow
2) Rosetta - Wake/Lift
3) Between The Buried And Me - Colors
4) Immanu El - They'll Come They Come
5) Kayne West -Graduation
6) Holy ****! - LP
7) The Dear Hunter - Act II The Meaning Of, And All Things Regarding Ms. Leading
8) The Chariot - The Fiancee
9) Kidcrash - Jokes
10) The Ocean - Precambrian |

I don't listen to many artists that are out in this day and age, and those I do I don't follow enough to get their album when it releases.
Actually, my list would be this:
1. Coheed and Cambria - Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume II: No World For Tomorrow
2. The Julius Airwave - The City the Forest
3. They Might Be Giants - The Else
So yeah, I have to include a local band, who's CD I picked up at the release party. And They Might Be Giants is always good, I just didn't like the CD as much as some of their other works.

2. Jill Scott's album
Unfortunately, all of the albums I've purchased this year have been used, or released prior to this year. |

I thought it was one of the biggest letdowns this year. That and the new Shins, anyway. Now that I'm looking, Deluge of Sound, I was pretty dissapointed in the new OM too. I only listened to it 3 times though. So it might come around and make me a fan later. |

...well snakes and arrows was a nice effort, but it really is just a novelty for us Rush fans that they continue to put out albums. It's not like they are putting out stuff like Hemispheres anymore.
A few people mentioned Coheed and Cambria...what's the deal there? The little I heard seemed blah...what am I missing?

I have fairly diversified tastes, and usually when I talk to people about my favorite albums this year, they also ask what I see in Coheed and Cambria. It's entertained me and been played in my iPod more than any other album this year basically. Catchy, simple prog rock with pop sensibility = win. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
