So what's it like to be in Texas with a song called "You're Gonna Miss Me" that isn't the 13th Floor Elevators' tune? (I can't be the first one to bring that up.)

You haven't heard of the 13th Floor Elevators, the first psychedelic rock band, back in 1966? Roky Erickson, their singer? Their biggest song, "You're Gonna Miss Me"?

The Elevators set the bar for all those San Francisco bands, and indeed the whole psychedelic wave of the late 60s. They were psych/garage/punk before any of those terms were in use. The whole shebang started in Texas, not California. There's been a movie about Roky and everything. Check Youtube for a b&w clip of "You're Gonna Miss Me". If you're gonna play a song by that name, you'd better learn about the Elevators.

Sorry, never heard of any of that. Ive only been in Texas about 47 years, so that may be it. LOL I will take a look tho...
