That's a video of me playing Stockholm Syndrome yesterday in my room. It was extremely loud (hence compressed audio ) I've taken people's advice with the thumb behind the neck, and im trying to! The Geddy Lee has a pretty thin neck, but I will admit that it is alot more comfy playing like that than I used to. Plus, it looks better. This is the HAARP DVD version of the song, because its awesome. Tell me what you think!

Trav.

Edit: Here's Knights of Cydonia as well.

Its all going thru my Ashdown Electric Blue 180W 12", and my BOSS ODB-3 overdrive pedal.

hi, ive watched a few of these on here. i cant tell what to reply. i dont know if people want a pat on the back, just wanna show off, or genuinely seek advice. i would just hate to seem like a dick. ( i am a dick, just ask around,lol.). so i will just tell what i think like u asked. its hard, as i do not know how long you have been playin. i watched both, good job! you play better than many guys i see bars that get paid to play. you have great right hand duration indeed. impressive. you just need a lil more consistancy on your clicks (when you whack the string to get the metallic attack) so they are closer in volume. yes, a compressor will catch it, but remember as the compressor cuts down the louder clicks, it cuts down the low end too, so you still have an inconsistant sound and the sound man will be afraid too put you up loud in the mix cuz yer signal is a rollercoaster. i noticed especially in the second song, it seems your left hand is behind your right hand in talent. you were smoking with your right, and the left hand had a much simpler task, but made more obvious mistakes. a bit more work on the left hand to catch up to the right. as far as the thumb thing, all that classic positioning was invented for dudes playing guitars on couches in castles in the 1400-1600's. i dont think they ever stood up. i dont think they banged thier heads either or had water bottles, pocket change, jacknives(yes, i have had knives thrown at me onstage). i will say your thumb position should depend on how high you wear your guitar when you gig. use whats comfortable. if you try the thumb behind the neck, and feel pinching in your wrist, your asking for trouble. nice job, johnny a.

Thanks man. Knights is sort of tough to play because I find it tiring, and you are right, I sort of botched the notes, but thats because I recorded it first (I made an hour long video of me juat trying to get it right, and trying random other things...like Stockholm Syndrome, which is from the same video) and I was just nervous. I'll try to record a better version though, one of these days. Thanks for the compliments!
