| | | | I don't care if someone plays Jaco licks with a pick, slaps, taps, or plays with their feet; but that kid's playing is below par.
I'm tired of these 14 year old kids putting up videos of themselves destroying some great piece of music. Get away from the video camera and get into the shed and come back in a couple of years when you've got something to say. |

I really don't get the pick hate among bassists. Some really great players choose the pick....
Chris Squire
John Entwistle
Paul McCartney
Steve Swallow
just to name a couple |

Practicing in front of a video camera is not OK?
I have so many videos of me butchering Rush and Metallica songs. It's great to look back and say, "I'm so much better now" or "Wow, I still do that", etc |

I guess I should've posted my own opinion with it. I'm not dissing pick players, I've been trying to use them myself for certain things. I just felt that Jaco licks don't seem right played with a pick, atleast in this particular case. I'm sure there are guys who can tear it up with a pick Jaco style, but the way this kid does it is just terrible.

| +1 ..at least he's not playing a stupid blink-182 song, he's actually trying something quite challenging.

Guys, we're in a world of technology now. Kids are going to suck, and be damn proud of it.
Where would WE be as bass players if we didn't challenge ourselves? |
