YYZ with Jeff Berlin...***?

Came across this the other day and just thought I would share. This is just ridiculously cool.

Awesome, I kind of like the way Jeff put his own spin on it.

Loved that, thank you. I was impressed with how YYZ translated to a jazz ensemble.

Way cool!

And for me, it's always fun to admire how Neil plays each song the same exact way, every time. I don't know any drummer in any other band (other than Alan White of YES) who plays note for note (or should I say beat for beat) every time.

I guess that's why Neil is known as "the professor."

Amazing talent.

Yeah and he was the one one playing without a music stand.

Nice!! Excellent arrangement!! Well, it's official. I will now no longer call a soprano saxophone a sissy's instrument. Yes, I was stereotyping them with Kenny G.

Why? Because Neil Peart drummed the crap out of the song with an abridged kit? Because Berlin totally shredded during his brief solos? Because it was a different take on a classic prog track? Because it was at a Buddy Rich memorial/tribute gig?

Is that a soprano sax or a clarinet? Looks like a clarinet to me, and he is totally wailing it!
Always wanted to play clarinet, mebbe I should....

Soprano player is simply on fire.

Bear in mind this is with what, one run through? That's some playing, stage full of heavyweights. Thanks Roger.

Very cool! I never thought I would hear a jazz version of any Rush song. This opens the door to many interesting possibilities. Imagine a jazz version of other instrumentals such as Leave That Thing Alone, Where's My Thing, The Main Monkey Business, or La Villa Strangiato.

Excellent arrangement, I enjoyed Jeff's version, he was moving the groove good. Neil, you are great. Smooth like a good jazz drummer should be.

Got to say I really love Jeff's playing on this song. And keep in mind he is sight reading and adding his own flair while doing it. Pretty impressive. Good to see Neil having fun and I'm sure it was a big honor for him to play with the Buddy Rich Orchestra! I thought this was just really fun and I was really surprised by just how well the song worked in this format.
