I got the low down on Jimmy Haslip's live rig. He's currently using a stereo rig consisting of two Tone Hammer 500's and two DB-410's.
I've got Tone Hammers on the way, and I've got a pair of DB-112 cabs on the way. I'll expand into more of their products once my checking account recovers from the beating I've been giving it this month.
I'm not sure I'll have a DB-410 here by the time of the clinic, but I'm sure between Roscoe, Aguilar, Rocket and Mr. Haslip... we can figure something out.

Yeah, I'm sure we'll make it work, somehow! |

To me is kinda sits in between the Streamliner and Shuttle voicing. I find it to be more mid present, not as open up top as the Shuttle but not as wooly as the Streamliner.
The DBs are a great mid-forward cab but comparatively heavy for my wimpy back. Part of why I like the AE210s and want to try the SL112.

FYI - I've got a pair of SL-112s on my next order. That'll happen within 3 weeks or so... |

Awesome Greg, I have had the privilege of playing Aguilar amps and cabs thanks to Nino Valenti and they sound fantastic. I have played Nino's basses (Frickin' Awesome instruments), as well as my precious Roscoes and they sound incredible.
I see a happy, long lasting relationship here....... |

Great products. Personally, I'm not a TH or SL fan, although the GS112 is one of those versatile cabs where anything sounds good through it, including a TH. A number of my cronies around here are brand endorsers, and they love the TH500 into a pair of GS112s...portable rig that shakes serious booty. I'm very interested in your take on the DB cabs. The DB amps....they make you think really nasty thoughts. (A DB751 into two Berg HT112ER's will induce cold sweats and smiles that cannot be wiped.) A DB751 into three GS112's....well, you've captured what makes Gary Willis smile.
Not at all to stick my nose in, but I've got to think they'd send you whatever you/Mr. Haslip would like for his clinic. |

My thought is just that shipping one or more 410 cabs around the coutry ain't cheap. If Jimmy needs it, we'll make it happen. If he's cool with a pair of 112s, then that's cool, too. And UPS would be none the richer. Not that I begrudge UPS their money, they certainly earn it. But why spend it if you don't have to?
Of course, that's just my depleted checking account talking. Give me a couple months of financial rebound, and I'll be calling for Aguilar to send a couple techs along with the cab(s). |

That's not a foolproof way to judge (some guys are just whores and will play whatever gear they can get paid to play), but it's a fairly good barometer.
I'll never forget the week we picked up both Roscoe and Gadow. I caught either Letterman or Conan one night that week, and the band had BOTH of those brands working. The bass player was playing a gorgeous Century Signature, and I knew I'd made a good move. |

Nothing that I have tried punches you in the gut quite as hard as that amp does. I can get close with my Eden setup, but not quite there(the Eden is a bit more articulate, however).
My only issue with the 750 was that it could get a bit boomy on certain stages, and it was hard to dial out with the limited EQ. The EQ on the 751 is supposed to be improved, though, so that maybe would no longer be an issue.
