We've got a treat coming on Sunday, October 17 @ The Jefferson Center in Roanoke, VA. Victor Wooten and J.D. Blair are bringing their 2-man show to S.W. VA! Tix are available here.
I've got my tix, I'll definitely be there. Maybe we can scare up a small GTG before the show somewhere in Roanoke? Heck, we could probably even do it at the Jeff Center - I think they have a full-service bar going in the lobby an hour or two before the show. I'll look into details on that.
The Victor show that I caught earlier this year was his full band. There were 4 soloists, so it wasn't all-Victor-all-the-time. I imagine this 2-man show will be more of a bass-fest, so I'm anxious to see the difference. And J.D. Blair is just ridiculously good on drums...

I might roll in a little early too...

He obviously loves them and wants them to enjoy music... The concert was spontaneous and fun. Not sure I liked the Hartke cabs that much, but what do I know????? I was troubled about getting a looper, but after seeing him play with one in concert, I'm on board!!!! |

His son Adam is well on his way to being an incredible drummer. I can't imagine having his rhythmic sensibilities at that age. Heck, I don't even have them now!!! |

He has been playing bass a little over a year. He's into metal
but for some reason I think he going to enjoy Victor!

The Jefferson Center is really bringing some good stuff to this area. Saw Keller Williams there last year, and I know Charlie Musselwhite is going to be there sometime next year.
Honestly, the Jefferson Center is one of the few things keeping me from fleeing this area... |

Victor's kids got up and played several times, and he also worked up 3 songs with a bunch of local kids from The Music Lab at The Jefferson Center. They did a really nice job, it was cool to see.
My favorite tune was a looped version of one of Jeff Beck's tunes (I think - if not, it's was very Beckish). I know I've heard the tune, just can't come up with the name of it... anyway, he really went to town. He used his tremolo, some distortion and I think also a Whammy sort of pedal to really take the bass pitch all over the place... all while shredding like Jeff Beck. That tune pretty well floored me, I'd never seen Victor do that sort of playing... |

Was the song you are talking about, the one he played after "Yesterday?" I was thinking it was an older Eric Johnson or Joe Satriani song.
That was my first time seeing Victor live. What an awesome performance.
I am going to have to do something special for my wife, since she somehow got me a ticket on the front row.
