Mike just announced a couple new models: the NRT4 & NRT5! These things look bad to the bone, so I had to add one to my pipeline. I asked them to make it ASAP, too, so it should be here May-ish.

Mahog body & neck, non-reverse t-bird body style, madagascar RW board, black headstock. Slurp!!! I ordered it to look just like this one:

I didn't order the 5-string version yet, but that could always be done with a special order if you are so inclined! 12 weeks is Mike's lead time on these.

The first of my Lull pipeline orders arrived today, and she is a BEAUT!!

I've also been messing around with my lighting rig today, so you might notice some subtle changes in the photos. I added two more cans: one more to shine on the backdrop, and then one to backlight the subject itself. I also re-bulbed all of my lights so I now have a consistent color temperature in all of the cans. I used to have a bit of a smorgasbord, so it was always tough to find the right temperature for white balance. It's a breeze now! 2700K: Check!

I've got too much light on the backdrop, so I need to find some lower wattage bulbs that are the same temperature. That should help separate the subject from the backdrop a bit more. Sigh... it never ends.

The pics are pretty banging, though. Once I get a bit more subtle with the lighting, I think there will be a real improvement here... better colors, more even light, yada-yada-yada.

Mike Lull M5V (Metallic Gray)

Love it Greg. Reminds me of a Roscoe Beck Fender I used to lust after. Good luck with the sale.

Yeah, I saw a similar Fender in a Sweetwater catalog, and I was all about ordering the same thing from Mike Lull.

I agree it turned out great. Blocks aren't my thing, but the birdseye looks great as does the colour. I bet it sounds killer.

I'm generally not a blocks guy, but I think the black is needed to balance the pickups (continues the vertical pattern) and make the silver/grey pop even more. Really nice combination.

Oooops - one correction on the new metallic gray M5V: it's got the Duncan custom wound single coils in it (not the hum cancelling pickups that I initially thought). I just plugged it in for the first time, and the tone was pretty obviously single coils. That made me go check the invoice, and sure enough - single coils!

I'm pretty sure I'll convert my personal M5V to single coils before summer gets here. This gray one sounds amazing.

I was messing around with the new Lull arrival (the metallic gray M5V w/ single coils), and I absolutely fell in love with the tone of it. This seals the deal - I'm putting single coils in King Koa as well as my personal Lull M5V. This bass sounds like a A BEAST.

I was jamming with a customer in the store yesterday, and he whipped out the chord changes you'll hear in the clip. Our jam bore little resemblance to the disco classic "Got To Be Real", but when I started playing around with different feels as I recorded this clip... it morphed on me! My apologies to Ms Cheryl Lynn for stinking up her tune. But, dang, this bass sounds gooooo-ooood.

By the way - that was all recorded direct through my REDDI tube DI. The bass line was both pickups wide open, and the chords and the single note staccato thing were all bridge pickup.
