Mike Lull Shop Visit

I had a nice visit to Mike Lull's Guitar Works in Bellevue, WA today. Super nice guys, cool shop... and a couple new swell basses that will soon be on the way to me!!

Here's the view as I pulled up:

A big part of Mike's business is repairs here in the Seattle area. Here's the parts showroom that you see when you walk in the front door:

And here's Mike's bench and the Plek machine he uses to level and crown frets with ridiculous precision:

Here's the showroom Mike uses to display whatever basses he might have in stock waiting for a dealer or an end user to come along and grab:

And here's me and Mike holding the two basses that really spoke to me today. The P 5'er might just be mine if I keep dreaming about it between now and next week when I get back. And the j-body with the t-bird PUPs (TJ5-24) is just straight up sick. The bridge pickup on that one is just nuts, and Mike swears that both PUPs played with a pick is an incredible rock tone.

And don't get me started on the Aguilar DB-750 head... this is the first one I've ever pugged into, and I thought it was just plain nasty!! Man... now I've got to call Aguilar next.

I believe a couple of people mentioned Aguilar when you decided to bail on TC. I ran both DB751 and AG500 heads in various backlines and liked both of them. I seriously thought about the AG500 instead of the GB when I was swapping heads around.

The TJ5 looks pretty cool/different.

I'd love to pick up some of them T-Bird pickups, but IIRC they're something like 300$ a pop.

Absolutely awesome! Thanks for the great write-up and the pics, Greg! I hope you're enjoying the visit with family too.

Red fretless (w/ Barts?) = want.

Cool!

And as to the Aguilar head, nothing, in my opinion, kicks as much ass as a DB750/751. I would still have mine were it not for the weight.

No argument here. Massive. No other way to describe the awesomeness of that tone. Or, unfortunately, the burden of carrying it around. My little Shuttle gets me 80-ish% there at a tiny fraction of the weight and footprint. Even at that, I still fantasize about having one of those darn things.
