Also, there should be enough leftover from this board to do another top, so let me know if you're in the mood for an Amboyna Burl special order, too! Roscoe Century Signature V (Amboyna Burl) |

Just wait, you'll see..... | Well, I've got one Roscoe and it's going nowhere. And I'd love to have more Roscoes than digits on my hands, AND Baltimore's/Jason's axes are stunning
But NOW I'm getting my manhood challenged for not having a fretless 3006 . I couldn't play a fretless anything.
Me thinks you want me to get laughed at .
Break out an instrument as fine as Baltimore's/Jason's and proceed to play it at my ability . #1 The folks'd think I stole it. #2 I'd get lots of "Bless his heart, he's tryin' ".
I guess I gotta man up now?
God Bless, Ray

God Bless, Ray | 99.9% of the reason people believe they can't play fretless is equal parts impatience & believing that you can't play fretless. I say BULL $#!t!!! The other 1/10th % is because they just don't want to. Practice & Patience will get you everywhere... |

I'm just about a determined a soul as they come. And the truth is I haven't "tried" to play a fretless. I know I could eventually. Especially after a while of being pi$$ed off at not doing well. I'd love to learn to as a matter of fact. I'm all about tackling the insurmountable.
I hope you know I was teasin' ya
Inspire me man, get some new sound clips up
Take Care,
God Bless, Ray

God Bless, Ray | No worries Ray. I'm not the overly sensitive type. If you want to learn to play fretless (and I think you should) then do it. You'll fall madly in love with it when it starts to come together for you.. |

Fretless isn't a love - it's a DISEASE....

You never encountered any problem? You must have impeccable intonation. I'd really like to hear you play, more than what I had the chance to at the GTG.
In your experience what does fretless offer you that fretted doesn't? (Others feel free to give your opinion too).
The first fretless (only) I've ever touched was Joe's LG at the GTG. Joe can tell you I'd never touched one before as he had to explain the left hand placement. I went for the "center" (same as a fretted), . Quote:

God Bless, Ray | Not to continue a derail - as I'd NEVER do such a thing! - but, encountering problems? Hmm...well, as for intonation, you have to remember that you never reach perfection - good intonation is a journey, not a destination. So, that said, I have had periods of intense playing when it was incredibly good, and other periods when I didn't play as much, and it "drifted" a bit - not enough to get fired from a gig (once you get to a certain point, it will always be "good enough"...), but enough to irritate myself pretty badly.
What it offers that a fretted doesn't? Long answer short: a more "vocal" quality, more "organic", because YOU play the NOTE, not the fret. Your attack is more exposed, how you get into and out of a note is more personal. It's not BETTER than fretted, but it is DIFFERENT...
