We just received our first
Star Bass II (the new set-neck/semi-hollow from Warwick). I haven't had much playing time on it, but my initial impression is that it's really cool! The tone is unlike any other Warwick that I've played. The punch/thunder is not as prominent, it's a softer, more airy tone.
I intend to get this one recorded at some point, just so folks can hear the tone for themselves... that never happens quickly though, I'm just not setup to do it conveniently. I'll post some clips here as soon as I have them.
My only other comment is on the wood itself... holy cow! The bookmatches on the front AND the back are terrific. James at DBG usually cherry picks the primo basses for me, and it really shows on this one. It's GOT to be the pick of the litter.
