This bass is going to arrive tomorrow, and it's got quite the story to go with it. This is a 90's era Roscoe that was being used by a right handed player. He'd flipped it over and screwed some attachments to it to make it more playable for him. Long story short, we've worked out a trade with the original owner where he'll end up with a brand new right-handed Roscoe "standard" bass, and I'll end up with this reconditioned lefty Roscoe 6-string.
This bass was basically refinished. Keith took the top back to bare wood, and he went just about as far on the back. The screw holes in the top were magically patched by Tony (he's a genius at that sort of stuff). Gard says the holes have basically diappeared, you'd be hard pressed to find the patches.
So with all that said, someone out there is going to get a super deal on a gorgeous bass! I'll do a better assessment of the bass's condition once it arrives here tomorrow. But based on Gard's description and these very nice pictures, I think $1999 $1850 OBO is a fair place to start.
I imagine the market for lefty 6-strings is not particularly large, so it'll be interesting to see how long this one hangs around. I've never had a lefty Roscoe in stock before, but I've often thought that I should give one a try. So all you lefties, come and get it!!
I also only have a few of the specs handy, I'll post a more complete set of specs tomorrow:
- Mahogany body w/ Burl Maple top
- 3-piece Maple/PH/Maple neck w/ Brazillian RW board & super-cool oval inlays
- Roscoe's usual 18.3-ish mm spacing
- Not sure on the electronics...
Roscoe SKB-3006 = $1999 $1899 OBO
Oh, and being a '90's Roscoe, this one has the headstock connected with a scarf joint as you can see here:

Just my eyes, or is that bridge pickup even closer to the bridge than we've come to expect with later models?
Just wow. Not sure it'll have any value, but I will be mentioning this to two lefty buddies. |

It looks to me like both pickups are scooted towards the bridge a bit more than is now typical. Should sound really cool with the mahog body, I would think... I'll know for sure tomorrow. |

I definitely love the look, it's really cool! |

...not my cuppa tea, but they do look nice, right?

Based on my gift with the written word, perhaps you may understand why I picked up the bass. |

1) There's a small line on the back about 1/4" long and very thin where the color is missing. That line was clear-coated over when it was recently refinished by Roscoe.
2) There are 3-4 shallow scratches on the back of the neck right where the neck meets the body. If the bass were hanging on a strap in left-handed playing position, the scratches are on the upper edge of the back of the neck (behind the 15th-18th frets, on the thumb side of the fretting/right hand).
I don't think I'd notice the scratches if I were playing the bass. You can't really see them, but you can feel them. They're so shallow, though, that I dare say you could pretty easily sand them out and just touch up the finish if they did bother you.
I'll post some pics in a little bit!

1) The bass comes in a brand new Roscoe gig bag (thanks, Gard!!!)
2) The frets were dressed while the bass was in the Roscoe shop, so they're in great shape.
3) The original Wilkinson bridge was replaced with a brand new Hipshot A-style bridge, also while the bass was in the Roscoe shop.
4) Here are the complete specs:
MODEL: SKB-3006 (circa 1997-1998)
S/N: 3331
BODY: Mahogany w/ Burl Maple Top
FINISH: Yellow Gloss
NECK: 3-piece Maple/PH/Maple w/ Brazillian Rosewood fretboard, 18.3mm spacing, oval inlays
TUNERS: Sperzel Locking
BRIDGE: Brand New Hipshot A-style
PREAMP: Bartolini NTMB-F 3-band
PICKUPS: Roscoe Barts ? (this is the only thing I'm not sure about...)
