New Arrival - USED Devon Diamond J 5-String

Here's a lovely Devon Diamond J 5-String that I recently took in on trade. The bass is in generally excellent condition, and I go into more detail in the listing on my site (click the link below to go there). The bass is well constructed, and the materials used are all very nice: it's got a gorgeous figured Birch top, Bartolini electronics, Hipshot hardware.

USED Devon Diamond J 5-String

In the listing, I mention a couple of dings on the lower edge of the body near the jack plate. Here's a shot of the two holes. My thought is that these are the result of something he's doing during construction, because the same two holes are visible even on new Devon basses.

Here's an example of another Devon that is/was being sold as new, and it also sports a pair of dings near the jack plate:

I have no idea why the same set of dings would appear on multiple basses in basically "new" condition, so I'm calling that a "feature" of the basses rather than damage. OK, not really, but you get what I mean.

I'm not looking to make a mint on this one, I'm just passing it along after a trade. If you're the type who likes to sample the wares of the small, boutique builders out there, here's a pretty painless one to get into. Heck, even if you just want a nice made-in-USA J-Bass for under $2K... here she is!

Make me an offer! $1799 OBO! $1499 OBO! $1399!

..Hmm, looks like a bass that just arrived from the left coast, say Bay Area, CA? In that case, I am sure it was (extremely well) cared for!!!

Should be very easy to move this bass Greg, best of luck.

Note- I believe the "Dings" are due to the alien probing...., nothing to see here....

In all seriousness, this is a wonderful bass and for the price - A STEAL!

Too funny, Pete! Yep, FWIW, this was my bass. Very cool instrument, and Greg could not have described it more accurately. I did not part with it for any negative reason...I simply gig my Mike Lull basses, and this one was collecting dust....well....and, I was all kinda' Jonesing for an instrument Greg had in stock.

Here's a little media for anyone considering this one...

Ok, that's weird...I swore I edited my post above, but a duplicate was created. I'm sure the problem was between my chair and keyboard.

In any case, what I wanted to add...

The bass is wearing fresh DR Sunbeams, with appropriately aligned ball ends.

Price Drop! Was $1799, now $1599!

I'm also going to sweeten the deal by offering $200 off any major piece (or pieces) of Genz-Benz gear (head or cab). The only exception is the Shuttle 9.0 which I've already bottomed out on the price because it's going out of production, I can't knock any more off that head...

I'm making a concerted effort to clear out my used collection of stuff, thus the price drop and incentive...

Please contact me directly if you'd like to put together a deal! 877-449-GEAR, greg@rocketmusic.net, or PM.

For international folks - in lieu of the Genz-Benz offer, I'll substitute free shipping anywhere in the world via USPS Priority service (which represents a $100-$150 value)...

That's it! You need to change your title from "Giver of GAS" to Professional Bassist Torture Specialist.

Do you own a cat? If not, get one. That'd be the final piece you need to become a Supervillan. Pure MEAN!

God Bless, Ray

A bald cat. I'd be happy to shave one of mine and send it your way....just don't tell Kim.

Wow. Folks, I know I'm biased...I played this bass for a number of months. At this price, you should have a cop chasing you every time you play...because it's like stealing. Buy. This. You won't regret it...it really is a terrific modern J.

To be quite honest, if it wasn't for my Cent. Std. Plus covering my J needs, this would have been sold very damn quickly. Truly gorgeous looking bass, and sounding too.

Cool update for ya'll! I just heard from Devon Mullen. He says he is more than happy to support the next buyer and warranty any issues that may arise down the road, same as if the buyer had purchased it new. That's a VERY nice offer, and it's very much appreciated by me. Thanks, Devon!

Devon also let me know that two dings by the jack plate were caused by the cases that he used to use. Some screws were hidden in the padding and actually dinged the body if the case took a good knock on that side. He has since switched case makers (Mono or Reunion Blues are his current offerings), so it won't be an issue on future basses.

This bass came to me in a double gig bag (not the original case), so it also will not be a recurring problem with this one.

I'm not sure of the exact number, but it's pretty darn flat. If I had to guess, I'd say 16"...

We've got a fretboard radius guage somewhere, but I think it's still over at the other store... harumph.

Dayum. Buy this, folks. It's a steal. Seriously.

I'm now working on a plot where I buy this back, but instead of shipping it, I do a little Jedi mind trick action on Greg,...and trade it back in on that maple Lull V4.

This really is a wonderful bass, at an amazing price.
