New Arrival - Warwick Stryker TCS Ziracote **SOLD**

This one was a special order, so it's already been sold But it's WAY too cool not to share with ya'll. I grew up a HUGE fan of John Entwistle, so today has been a complete blast getting a chance to play with this bass.

Warwick Stryler CTS Ziracote

That's hardly a low price, but it's honestly a lot cheaper than I was expecting

The price I'm showing is the minimum price I'm allowed to show... but the bass actually sold well under that. Just FYI.

Yeah, thats pretty intense, be a fantastic bass of BEAD tuning, as you'd still grab all of those notes usually played on the G.
My 'ol homebrew explorer bass has almost as good access, but only 20 frets.

If the price change after you add the 'wick hollowbody to you cart is anything to go by, I believe you!

Check out this video of John playing his Alembic bass on “Baba O’ Reilly”. This is a great clip with the bass audio isolated. John’s genius and the power of this instrument are on full display. Since it’s a bass-only audio feed, fast forward to the 1:25 mark. That’s when John starts to open this bad-boy up.

Edit: yeah his alembic, wups!

Oh, that is soooo cool! Thanks for pointing that out, Cliff!

I think that's actually an Alembic, though, but it's obviously the same sort of bass styling. Anyone know which came first? John's Alembics, or John's Warwicks? I'm guessing the Alembics.

I heard a funny story about his Alembics. They apparently required an outboard power supply to make the active electronics work, so he had to have a special cable and whatnot to get any output from the bass. He was backstage at Live Aid getting ready to perform in front of millions, and he couldn't tune his bass because his rig with the outboard power supply in it was onstage. So he spent the first song or two of the performance trying to get his bass in tune, and it must have been a nightmare. He was finished with Alembic after that, so I imagine he then got in contact with Warwick to recreate a similar look and sound.

Fender > Gibson/Fenderized > Alembic > Warwick >Status is the rough path, IIRC(not certain of the Fender/Gibson era), of course thats only mentioning the bigger brands.

He had the Alembic Explorers, moved to Warwick, designed the Buzzard with Hanz Peter Wilfer(I think thats his name, Warwick boss), had some issues with the necks, IIRC, and went to Status, to build the carbon ones.

As far as I've read, this is one of the main reasons he left Alembic, the outboard power supply, and supposedly, his necks needed a lot of adjusting with temprature.
