WOW! With the good fortune of having been there, these pictures are even more fun to see. Kudos, Greg & Danny! (And I'm still coming back for more of Danny's salsa.)

Woof. I'm dredging up this thread at my own peril. It's severely disappointing to see how little progress we've made. I guess the positive spin is that we've been absolutely swamped by our day-to-day business for at least 4 solid months now, and there's no end in sight. Some days it feels like we barely have time to receive, photograph, sell & ship all the stuff that's coming through our store now. Wah, right? I guess that's better than the alternative ("we finished the renovations 'cause business is so slow").

So what has happened in the past 6 months? Let's see. We passed our final building inspection. "Yay!!!" should probably be my reaction to that. Should be. Meh. That is worth a rant in itself, but I'll spare you all that grief.

But that was several months ago. Since then, we've done... absolutely nothing to the building!!

But that should change this weekend!! My current plan is to get a little spurt of building done. We just bought a bunch of rough sawn cedar boards (1" x 8" x 12') to use as paneling in what will eventually be the recording studio space. I'm going to side one wall in that area (the back of the new wall that we built to separate the showroom and warehouse areas), and then we'll be able to use that as a nice-looking backdrop for our future video productions. We've got to get on the stick in that area (video production), and this little project should help...

Here's the raw material:

And here's the intended target area:

I have to say, the building never smelled as good as when I was there earlier today. Busy is a good thing!

Yeah, that cedar smell is pretty awesome. Our store almost smells as good as the Roscoe shop now!

Yeah, get to work..selling basses and stuff is great but doesn't give us any progress pics, and you know how much we all like progress pics!

3 days in, and this is all the progress to report. Day 1 was mostly wasted getting all the tools here and hanging a door that simply refused to be hung (a 30 minute job somehow turned into 3 hours). I did also get the sidewall that you can't see from this angle done. That's good news, right?

So we're getting there! Imagine this rough-sawn cedar panelling spreading all the way across the drywall. Shouldn't be but another 2-3 weeks if I can keep up this pace...

Please pardon the fat guy and his underage crew in the middle of the video. That's me and my two sons. The boys had some fun working a drill press and driving some screws. I'm hoping a skinier me shows up in the video a few weeks from now

It may have taken three hours, but that door is now well hung.

(Someone had to say it...don't judge.)

And don't get me started on the position of those four lower-right screws.

KUDOS, GREG!

Hope I can find an excuse to come back and see the finished product some day - whenever that day might be...

Only you, Jerry! Hah. Those holes will all get plugged, so they'll disappear eventually...

I finally found some time this weekend to get back to the paneling project. Man, turning that corner from the entry way onto the main wall was a real bear. It's really two corners with the overhead turn and the sidewall turn. It's like a giant 3D jigsaw puzzle, so all of the boards on those two corners had to fit and interlock just so. That made for really slow going, but now that I'm on the main wall things are moving a little faster. This is how far I got before I pooped out today:
