New Building - Take 3

We're still very early in the process, but Danny and I have identified another potential store site! The third time's the charm, right?!?

Ya'll heard about the first fiasco here, and there was a second one I didn't talk about that was less fiasco, but just as disappointing. Anyway, this location is the best of the three in terms of being well suited to our needs. It's got a finished retail space that is as big as our entire current store (which is only ~60% retail space). Then there's a back warehouse area that is 2-3 times that size, there's a dab of office space in another wing, and there's plenty of parking. It's still in Blacksburg, so our radar is up for any possible zoning/building code issues... there aren't any obvious ones, but that doesn't really mean anything.

I don't want to give away the location until everyone has signed on the dotted lines, but here are some pics of the unfinished warehouse area that we envision being converted to studio space, performance space (for clinics, recitals, rehearsals, etc., all wired into the studio, of course), and a dedicated shipping & receiving area.

These are probably 12-14ft ceilings, so the room is fairly massive (40' x 56'). One great thing for us: it's a blank slate that we can tailor to be exactly what we want it to be. Even better, it's all "private" space (i.e. physically separated from the public retail space), so we can build it out as time and budget permit.

Needless to say, we're pretty darn excited!!

It is a pretty cool looking building but the outside needs a little work. Good Luck!

Absolute best post of the day. Well played. I've heard that the best jokes are the ones where, after hearing, you say to yourself, "Self...I should've thought of that." Bada boom.

I was waiting for somebody to notice that! 10 Rocket Music Points to Jim!

If you're like me, you possibly thought "that can't be a bed, why would there be a bed in a warehouse?" Of course, my immediate afterthought was "I wonder what his secretary looked like?"

Looks great Greg, best of luck.

That is just going to be a bass player's Man Cave right? You don't want to sell anything or make a profit, correct? Because we wouldn't want to call Billy Babbit's mother, right?

Right?

I'm sooo confused:
So, if Billy Bibbet had a son...
...and he was adopted by Bob Babbit...
... he'd be Billy Babbit, right?

I'm sooo confused!!

Jim,

It's common knowledge for those of us who've spent our lives in the Cuckoo nest that Nurse Ratched and Billy Bibbet had an illegitamate child that they named Bob. The I in Bibbet was changed by little Bobby to an a for Babbet when he grabbed his first bass.

Stage names n' all y'know. Like Ricardo Valenzuela became Ritchie Valens, so everybody wouldn't notice he was a Latino.

Congrats! Did the negotiations involve any use (forced or otherwise) of that bed?
