New Roscoe Arrivals

We received these two Century Standard 4 strings from Roscoe yesterday! The basses are spec'd the same but for the pickups: one has Bart CBs, the other has Bart J's.

These basses were designed by Cameron McLaughlin. He couldn't decide if he wanted the CB's or the J PUPs, so I told him we'd order both and he could have his pick. As soon as he's chosen the bass for him, the other one will be available for sale.

Roscoe Century Standard 4 (CBs)

Roscoe Century Standard 4 (J's)

Love the simple, functional look of these basses. And I also kinda dig the dots on the fretboards for some reason. Normally not a fan, but on these, they just seem to look "right".

Interested to see which one he prefers (if he can choose just one).

The JJ did indeed win the day. Both basses sounded really nice, but the JJ just had a little something extra to our ears. To me, it sounded more "familiar". It's a more traditional bass tone that you recognize instantly. The CB bass was fatter, but it also seemed a bit harsher sounding. Pretty subtle differences, but they're there. Cameron might have heard something different, I'm sure he'll elaborate.

Cameron and I spent several hours recording him playing the same song with both basses. We'll get those mixed down soon and you guys can pick your own favorite!

Yes indeed!!

Today was a great day. Happily and Gratefully joined the Roscoe Family. Trust you me, I'm gonna put that bass to work. I just picked up a ton more gigs, so I've got lots of opportunities to get it out and get it in!

Thanks to Gard and all the Roscoe peeps for making this bass a reality. I'll get all the promo stuff up on my main site in the next day or so.

sounds and video soon as well.

Here's a first pass at the work Cameron did earlier today. There's a fair amount of EQ and what not going on in these mixes, but I can say that the settings are identical for each bass. So in a sense, we are hearing the tonal differences between these two basses pretty clearly.

Tomorrow, I'll break out the individual raw tracks with all the EQ, etc. removed.
