New Roscoe Orders

I just put in a bunch of orders with Roscoe (thanks for your help, Gard!), and I thought ya'll might like to see the details. None of these basses is spoken for yet, so by all means contact me if you'd like to claim one of them and tweak the specs in any way.

The abundance of Bubinga tops being used is due to the recent arrival of this sick, sick board in G'boro. Gard obviously could not resist petting it, and who can blame him?!?

Here's what I have coming, all arriving sometime between now and July 2012.

First up - the Bubinga ones. Sorry, no pics of the individual tops are available just yet. Keith, Gard and I will fix that soon enough!

SKB-3005 Ash/Bubinga/BEM **PRE-SOLD**
- Ash Body, Bubinga Top, Natural Gloss Finish
- Wenge Center Lam Neck w/ Bird's Eye Maple Wenge board
- Bart/Bart electronics
- Black HW

LG-3000 LG-3005 Ash/Bubinga/BEM
- Swamp Ash Body, Bubinga Top, Natural Gloss finish
- Wenge Center Lam Neck w/ Bird's Eye Maple board
- Bart/Bart electronics
- Black HW

Century Standard Plus 5 Bubinga/BEM
- Ash Body, Bubinga Top, Oil finish
- 3-Piece Maple Neck w/ Bird's Eye Maple board
- Bart pre, Bart CB PUPs
- Black HW

SKB-3005 Mahog/XQM/Coco
- Mahogany Body, XQM Top, Oil Finish
- Standard Neck w/ Cocobolo board
- Bart/Bart electronics
- Black HW

Century 3006 Alder/XQM/PauFerro

- Standard Neck w/ Pau Ferro board
- Bart/Bart electronics
- Black HW

Very nice specs! The bubinga ones are cousins of mine (and the other two you sold), I take it or is this a different piece altogether? The wenge centre necks and standard Roscoe/Bart electronics will kill in that combination.

I believe this is a different board than the one from which your top came. This board is still in one piece, or at least it was as of a couple days ago. Keith was planning his cuts to maximize the yield last time I spoke with Gard...

It's all definitely in the same league. There has been some sick Bubinga making it's way to Greensboro lately...

Hmmm. It's been about a year since I've gotten a new Roscoe. And I'm down to just two right now. I have a 3 space Hercules guitar stand. It looks stupid with only two basses hanging on it.

Starting to catch on to my way of convincing myself?

But then there's that damn SKB3005 fretless, too.

I'll send you one of the 6-space guitar racks that we use on our showroom floor. That way you don't have to make these awful choices.

Get them to do one of these as a fretless? Problem solved? Not necessarily, but it's a possibility.

Oh..... it better be, that'd look killer, especially with a bit off that hot slab.

OK, starting from the top:

No, Greg, I'm not "petting" the bubinga, there's a cloth with mineral spirits in my hand.

Jeff, as Greg points out, no, it's a different piece of wood completely, but both are pretty amazing!

Ryan, bubinga, ash, and diamondwood make the BEST fretless! And Greg's so thoughtful...a 6 space rack stand, perfect!!!

Pete, wenge with bubinga is one of my favorite combinations, looks great - especially if you get a bubinga 12th fret inlay!

Michael, nope, we did not source this board locally, but I'm now curious as to where you saw a board like this in Greensboro! Do tell!!!

Bill, see my comment to Pete - YES!

Is it the worlds smallest cloth?

As Gard said - yes, yes, and yes! I'll even throw in the capo you've been threatening to buy for a while now

I'm not sure why I went with BEM on all of the Bubinga ones. I think I'll change at least one of those to Wenge (probably the standard plus, just to darken it up a bit tonally and visually).

Just came in to say wowie zowie that is a beautiful bubinga specimen. That's gonna make for some serious bass drool syndrome.

I waffled on wenge vs. BEM for my ash/bubinga C5+ and ultimately went with BEM for tonal reasons. Given the other two on order, doing this one with wenge for some variety makes sense. Both will be beautiful.

Gard, a couple of things:
- bubinga and wenge sounds like a great combination
- there is not a person on this thread that wouldn't just hug that board, leaving a puddle of slobber on it, if they had the chance. That's a beautiful piece of wood.
- Please, someone check on Jerry - he may be trapped under something heavy, and unable to reach his computer.

I believe this is the proper soundtrack to accompany this pic of Gard.
