New Roscoe Tops - Chilean Laurel Burl!!

No, not Chilean Sea Bass... Chilean Laurel Burl! You put this in your ear hole, not your pie hole!

I just reserved these two incredible pieces of wood for two Roscoes-to-be. The first top is full thickness and can be used for any custom Roscoe you want (Century, SKB, LG). It's got a $600 Retail price tag. The second top is a thinner piece that can be used on a Standard Plus model (also Century, SKB or LG).

I've promised Gard that one of these will become a live order by the end of the week. I'd love to make it a special order for someone here on TB, but if not then I'll be ordering the Standard Plus as a 5 string. Probably SKB, just for the sake of variety.

To do a special order, I just need a 20% deposit upfront and the balance is not due until the bass is ready to ship (usually 2-3 months down the road). PM or email me if you'd like a quote on something!

So is there anyone out there unable to resist this killer wood?

Full thickness top for a custom:

Sure is some incredibly pretty wood, that with a blackburst, or tobbacoburst back, and a maple shim, or even a taped off pinstripe of ash, would be mindblowing.

Oh, and Gard says Keith says it's quite similar to Myrtle... so Fertile Chilean Sea Bass, anyone?

Oh. My.

That "full thickness" top would look so perfect as a Century 6 fretless, with birdseye diamondwood unlined board, spanish cedar body, 19mm spacing, and black hardware.

My life would then be complete.

This stuff is some of my Favorite I've seen outta the Shop yet.

You get one of these Basses in Greg, and you're gonna force me into a "Northbound Trip" ending in the 'Burg

I can't wait to see these completed.

God Bless, Ray

Yeah, it would push her over the edge!! We snuck by with the 6 string--luckily.

But for awhile, there are two 4-letter words/names that won't be getting mentioned in my house---Greg and Gard. Because she knows full well when I start mentioning your names, it's a great possibility I just may be plotting something expensive.

Seriously, though, that is one of THE nicest looking tops I've seen in awhile. That is gonna make someone a KILLER looking custom Roscoe, and the other one is gonna make for one gorgeous Century Standard Plus.

I think when fretless ordering time comes, I'm probably gonna have you & Gard pick me out some wild buckeye burl, and just surprise me when it's done.

Yummy!

I bet that would look awesome in an oil finish too!

........I especially dig the black hardware!

Yeah, that thick top might just be getting set aside on a back shelf somwehere down in Roscoeville... me thinks that might be the ticket for my eventual 6 string. Oil finish, wenge wedge neck, ebony board, ash or spanish cedar body, Bart/Bart... yummmm...

Set it on the back shelf for a long time.

Then, when you've forgotten about it, I will bring it up and it will get used for MY 6 string fretless. With a gloss finish, though.

First one to say "build it" wins.

Shows how "bright" you are . You just goofed yourself out of a case or two of Bud Light If you'd "accepted" Bill's deposit before divulging that bit of info you would've had the "four cup" setup full for a while.

(Just hackin' on ya Greg, but it was too easy)

God Bless, Ray
