The Official Ball End Alignment OCD Club

VroomVroom, the king of OCD, got a bunch of us started doing the completely unnecessary (but oh-so-good-looking) practice of aligning the ball ends of our strings. And some of you may have been doing this on your own for years. But let's bow to the master and embrace your OCD!

1) VroomVroom
2) Rocket Music
3) JBFLA
4) BipSlapper
5) Darkstrike
6) Ryan L.
7) mwbonsall
8) JOME77
9) bobunit

Bah - all my pics were taken before I became infected. I'll have to shoot some fresh ones on Monday.

Bill - your balls are different colors. That's not nearly the level of OCD we're after.

It's one of the reasons I stopped using Daddarios(outside of Chromes), that colour coating really mutes the tone.

Oh, and looking at the pic now, it's old enough that the string spacing is still 18.3mm, both my big R's are set to 17.5 since I orderd the Gadow.

I won't join but will subscribe to the thread.
This could be good material for a new A&E Reality show.

OK, this will have to do for now. I'll put up a better pic when I get it.

Sorry about this, but a quick OT tangent, from an earlier discussion, about picking out the top for JBFLA's bass, we were mentioning how important the wood top picked was, that it can seriously effect the colour of the finish.

Well, here's your Cobalt Blue.

Here's mine, which is also Cobalt Blue...

Never mind the ball-ends, eh, this is it "as delivered". So that's Greg's fault, or Adams.....

I can't remember if I restrung that one with SITs or not... that was a LOT of Roscoes ago! But I was definitely NOT paying attention to the ball ends at that time, so I'll take the blame... for shame, for shame

Naww, this was well before you got big into the SIT's.

Tell ya the truth, I know the whole story, but couldn't help the dig.
Adam has told me, ages ago, it had the same set of DR Lowrider Nickles that it had on when ya'll had that big Superbowl party.

Do we get extra points (or meds) if we have the exact same number of wraps on all the posts too?

And going back further, here's a pic of the madrone burl topped SKB3006 (nicknamed by the guys at Roscoe as "The Brain").

And even further back, my old Modulus Quantum 6 (yes, they are aligned differently, but they are STILL aligned....)

My balls are straight and shriveled, but not aligned. So yet another club I can't be a member of.

God Bless, Ray

Modulus Quantum 5 (Not a Roscoe, but who can stop me!?? - oh yeah, Mods )

...and this (most of you have seen):

And the Fretless Century (blurred of course):

..I know, I don't have a life at the moment, too much goofing around with basses and poor photo skills. Now I have to go wash my hands !

I love it! Greg, you're absolutely the man.

Attention all bassists of the solar federation...we have assumed control.

And remember, it's not OCD...it's CDO. Which is like OCD, but in the proper alphabetical order.
