...not cool at all, right?
However, if he ever showed an interest in one again, we would LOVE to accommodate him!

God Bless, Ray | Oh, he plays a LOT of basses other than his Foderas! I think he was just doing is cousin a favor.

We got up to the ninth or 10th incredible bass, and I was like "Man, that's a nice collection". Anthony says "Oh, that's just the Foderas". 20-30 basses later, and I was swimming in a pool of my own slobber.
Here's a pic of me stroking one of the basses in Vic's collection. Yep, that's Stanley Clarke's old Alembic. "School Daze", etc. |

I had a fretless version back in the early 90s. It was a beater that I found in the corner at the old Atlanta Rhythm City.... BEFORE they became GuiTarget.
Traded it to Joe and he restored it to near new...
Ahem, pictures anyone.
O well enough reminiscing and OT rambling.
YA'LL HAVE A GREAT TIME AND WHILE YOUR IN DC SEE WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT THE ECONOMY!
Seriously, see if you can sneak some cool pics. |

It's been at least 15 years since I last saw Victor live. Let's just say Howard Levy was still in the Flecktones last time I saw Vic play live...
Vic is an excellent band leader, and what a band it was! Big brother Reggie Wooten on guitar, Derico Watson on drums, and a smoking keyboard player they kept calling "White Chocolate" - LOL). I was bummed that Anthony Wellington couldn't make it, I was looking forward to hearing him live for the first time. But hey, having Vic on bass is a nice fallback
I went with a buddy of mine who is a big music fan but not a musician. On the drive there, we were talking about "2 through 10", Victor's shorthand name for everything other than "notes". I knew my buddy would get it even though he doesn't play, and I think we had as much fun looking for that kind of stuff (dynamics, tone, rhythm, etc.) as we did just listening.
While we're talking all things Wooten - for anyone interested, Wooten Woods is having a work weekend July 9 -11. The camp suffered some serious damage during the recent flooding down in TN, and they're going to be rehab'ing several of the buildings that are used for the Bass/Nature camps. The weekend will be a lot of work, but also a lot of fun. I went to one such weekend where we put up the dome, and it was a blast. Work all day, jam at night. There will certainly be some skilled guys there who can tell you which nails to hit if you're not a building pro. If you're interested in helping, follow the link to find out who to contact, where to go, what to bring, etc. Wooten Woods is in Only, TN, about an hour outside Nashville. |

As far as the rebuild, I can't hit nails worth a damn but I can tell knock knock jokes till somebody pees their Bud Light filters
God Bless, Ray

They've got a 3-week long camp coming up (do I wish I could go to that? Heck, yeah!!!), so they're hustling to get ready. |
