Roscoe opening order

So here are the three basses in my opening order with Roscoe:

Century Standard (S/N A090 = $2199)
- Swamp Ash Body
- Satin Tobacco Sunburst Finish
- 3-Piece Maple Neck
- Maple Fingerboard
- Bartolini PUPs
- Bartolini 3-Band pre
- Satin Chrome Hipshot Bridge & Tuners
- Roscoe Single Gig Bag

LG-3005 (S/N 5981 = $4455)
- Quilted Maple Top (Exhibition Grade)
- Mahogany Body
- Cherry Burst Finish
- Standard Neck
- Standard String Spacing
- Pau Ferrro Fingerboard
- Bartolini Pickups
- Bartolini 18V/3-Way pre
- Standard 12th fret inlay
- Fretted Fingerboard
- Hand Carved GraphTech Nut
- Chrome Hardware
- Hardshell Case

Century Signature V (S/N 5980 = $5380)
- Spanish Cedar Body
- Spalted/Quilted Maple Top
- Natural Finish
- Wenge/Maple/Wenge Wedge Neck
- Wenge Fretboard
- Standard String Spacing
- Standard 12th fret Inlay
- Fretted Fingerboard
- Hand Carved GraphTech Nut
- Black Hardware
- Hardshell Case

These three basses should roll in here sometime in January/February. In the next few days, I intend to order another 2-3 Roscoes for Feb/March delivery. Probably:
- Another Century Standard 5 (Natural w/ Rosewood FB?)
- A fretless (SKB? LG? 4? 5? 6?)
- A fretted 5 or 6 (SKB? LG?).

Feel free to spout out what you think I should add to the mix, I'm very much open to suggestion...

More basses that are wallet friendly in this tough economy.

I hear ya...

I don't say this to rub anyone's nose in it, but strangely enough... Rocket Music's economy has been booming for 5-6 weeks straight. Either folks are buying high end gear to make themselves feel better... or it's just the usual media song that gets sung every 4 years ("The sky is falling, vote for...!").

I should probably duck after that last comment... allow me to apologize in advance to all the R's and D's out there. Sorry! I realize that there are some seriously f-ed up things going on at the macro-economic level. The bottom line for me is that Rocket Music's economy is doing just fine, so I'm going to continue to plan accordingly. I'm going to continue to plan for success.

Welcome to the Roscoe Family!

Hey, congrats on the current wealth of business. Does that mean you'll give me a whopper of a discount on an SKB-3007 with a sexy walnut top and birdseye maple fingerboard?

Seriously - as a big fan of the company and the amazing instruments they offer, it's great to see another dealer added to the network. I still remember being very happy to hear the news that my local shop climbed on board.

Yeah, I just ordered an SKB-3005 with an ash body, a myrtle burl top, wenge center neck and ebony board. It's going to be a broadneck 5 (19mm spacing). Should be pretty sweet.

Indeed, Bart/Bart

Gard suggested I might not want to go broadneck for a non-special order bass, and I agreed earlier this morning. However, I'd be happy to switch it back if that's what's making you drool. The broadneck is a $300 adder, so this bass is sitting right at $5K...

Ah, heck, I'll make it back into a broadneck You only live once!

Oh, sweet Hey-Zeus!! Gard let me know about a no-home that some dealer must have ordered and been unable to take for whatever reason... Long story short, 5962 is on the way to me instead. It's an LG-3005 w/ Spanish Cedar body, Buckeye Burl top, Black Ebony fretboard, Bart/Bart electronics.

Retail = $4750, and I should have it here on Wednesday. Yahoo!! We're getting the Roscoe ball rolling a few months earlier than anticipated!

Yep, Roscoe is funny like that. Most manufacturer's have a "List Price" that nobody actually pays, then there's a "Minimum Advertised Price" which turns into the Internet Price (that's why EVERY site shows pretty much the same price for product X). And the dirty little secret is that most people could pay even less than that if they would just ask...

With Roscoe, though, they just have a Minimum Sale Price (which they also interchangeably call Retail Price). Their Retail Price is THE price. I can't sell under that price no matter how badly I might want to... well, I could, but I wouldn't be a Roscoe dealer for long...

Personally, I think this is cool as a cucumber. You don't have to worry about some dealer taking you for a ride, and I don't have to spend half my day quoting prices (which is what I do with Warwick, G&L, etc.). Each Roscoe bass costs what it costs no matter what dealer you order it from, so all you have to decide is if the bass is worth that much to you and which dealer you care to honor with your business.

It should really push us all to be better dealers, because customer service is the only thing we have left to separate ourselves from other dealers (other than having the right bass in stock at the right time).

I dig it.

I thought that's how it worked. I knew that Roscoe had gone to "fixed pricing" now, which I also think is a cool deal. Doesn't leave a buyer feeling like "I wonder if I could have gotten the price down a little more".

Just wanted to make sure I was right on my thinking that that's what retail meant.

That is what they have done with the Century Standards, the advertised Roscoe price is the price period. As a consumer when I go to look at one, I know the price and do not need to shop around. Makes it much easier for me, all I have to do is pick which dealer I want to buy from.

Being that I was Greg's roommate for 3 of my 5 years (5? what?) at VA Tech, I feel qualified to field THAT question... it's a long answer though, so I will point you to the offficial University answer to that question. http://www.vt.edu/about/hokie.html

Long story short, it was a 'word' used in a college fight song "Hoki" the "e" was dded later. The fighting gobbler later came to be known as the "HokieBird" due to the popularity of the term 'Hokie'.

I was just messing with you, I was pretty much raised in Poquoson, VA. Being that it is my Irish heritage to pull for the Fighting Irish, I also pull for UVA. With the way the Hoos have started to play and the way tech is playing, there is a good chance for the first time in about five years that UVA can come away with a win.
