Thanks Greg! The 6 string fretless is a bit challanging but so much fun to play!
It actually feels more comfortable than playing my 5 string Warmoth fretless because all I've played over the last 2 years is the 6 string fretted.

I must say, all this mahogany/J action is intriguing! Great playing Joe and Jon. I wonder... Is the Bart J compatible with 20mm spacing?

^^^ Thanks Damon.

I would think that they would be compatible with 20mm string spacing. They extened a good distance beyond the C & B strings. I know sometimes I've been fooled by how long the actual magnets are (in comparrison to the shell) but I bet they would work.

Gard can certainly answer that question though.

Can I have the Warmoth since it will only collect dust now?

Clint,
Actually I can give you a great deal on the fretless neck but you'll have to order a Gecko body (medium neck slot) and all of the hardware and electronics..... I have a fretted neck currently being fretted to replace the fretless neck.

I got lucky and snagged a nice finished neck from the Warmoth showcase area. And the best thing of all? The neck doesn't have that pest of a Gecko inlay!

When I made the bass Warmoth wouldn't allow you order the neck without the inlay.

U-G-L-Y!!!

Hmm, I can trade you an older Fender Style Moses Graphite Neck?

I like the Gecko inlay for itself, but inlays like that should only be on basses if they have meaning to their owners, IMHO.

+1 Bill. When I ordered the neck and body, they actually seemed to get offended when I ask them to omit the inlay. They said that Mr. Warmoth said "it was not negotiable"!

I guess enough folks complained and they had a change of heart. Now they'll omit it if you pay a $35 up-charge.

Here's a new version of another Chris Tomlin tune called "My Chains Are Gone (Amazing Grace)". I recorded a version of this about a year ago but I was never satisfied with how it came out so I thought that I'd try it again with my new Roscoe's.

I posted a version a couple nights ago but I wasn't happy with it either so I pulled it.
I'll have to say that this may be a simple song but I really struggle with laying down decent solo's on this one. Maybe it's because I've heard the original hymn so many times that I was unable to come up with anything original without losing the feel of the song. It was definitely a struggle for me. I guess that it's time to go on to the next one.

Here's the basses:

And here's the tune:

Very nice Joe.. Seems like that fretless was meant to be in your hands. Another song for the growing collection for sure..

Thanks Steve.
It was definitely an answer to prayer getting this one. Not many lined fretless Roscoe 6'ers floating around out there. She may not get the highly skilled licks played on her like when you owned her but she'll be treated well and see lots of action.

Speaking of action, I think that I've got the setup where it needs to be to optimize the mwah. It's just under .06 - .09 high C to low B.
Now all that's needed is lots of blood, sweat and tears!

Practice, practice, practice ..........

I've been a bit under the weather this weekend (summer cold) so I passed some time by recording a new "Bass Orchestra" tune. It's a version of Tomlin's song "Jesus My Redeemer" and features 9 bass tacks.

I used my Roscoe CS6J+ for all of the bass tracks on this tune and recorded it using Reason 6.0.

I forgot our old band website was still active, it has sound clips of the Roscoe to the right below which I think now resides in Finland or somewhere there abouts. You can hear it cut pretty decent on the Proud Mary clip. It had the Demeter pre with the Nordy DC pickups, ash body, wenge board, maple top.
