Here's another original "Stuck in the 80's" original tune. This title for this one was inspired by an afternoon of babysitting all 3 of our grand kids. I was upstairs recording and I heard my wife scream "Joe! Get down here! I need your help!" Apparently all of the kids had awaken from their afternoon naps! lol
I used my mahogany bodied/maple neck & FB Roscoe CS6J+ and my Squire Srat for this tune. It was recorded using Reason 6.0.

Yeah Highpost, everything was direct through a Lexicon Alpha audio I/F (and fairly dry except for some effects via the mastering tools).
I really should try running the bass through my GB head. It might liven it up a bit.

Here's another "Bass Orchestra" tune featuring my new Roscoe 3006 fretless bass. I love the mwah tone that this bass can produce. Of the 3 Roscoe fretless basses that I've had this one definitely has the magic! I can't thank Steve & Jeff enough for passing it my way!
I also used my fretted Roscoe CS6J+ for the main bass part of the song.
This tune was recorded using Reason 6.0.

I still struggle a bit when playing harmony parts with the fretless. Not much room for error in the upper register......
I've got to say though that for anyone that's trying to chose between a fretless 5 and a fretless 6, go with the 6. Even if you're not a 6 string player. The high C just gives you so much more useful "mwah" range. The same notes played in the upper register of the G just don't have the same sound of those played more in the middle of the register on the C. That high C just sings so sweetly.
I haven't been on TB for a few years. I bought my beautiful Roscoe back then from a fellow TB'er, took Gard's advice on a strap, and then kind of drifted away into the basement studio with my former band, Edward Morbius. We recorded a bunch of original stuff so I thought I would share one. I'm a little embarrassed to trot out my meat and potatoes hid low in the pocket bass lines after listening to some of the killer bass playing from other guys on here, but I guess we're all here for the Roscoes. So, here goes ....
SKB 3005, Solid Swamp Ash body, Natural Satin Finish, Maple neck, Bart NTMB plugged straight into the board. Recording and mixing was done with Pro Tools by a real life recording engineer named Andy Yates. It was my first experience with a click and no band ... just the scratch track in the headphones and that infernal and unerring click!
I can never get soundcloud to work. I have an account but links never work.

As fantastic as the tone and playing are, I'm in love with the melody! Did you write this? It's a perfect example of how powerful a simple melody can be. Just wow!

Gard, Unfortunately I won't be able to come. It came down to taking some time off and either coming to the GTG or taking a vacation to the beach with my wife. I think that she would have let me come but I knew how much she wanted to get away to the beach and it's actually been 9 years since we've gone.
We talked about it and we're going to make the trip to Greensboro/Mount Airy this fall.

Jon, you're very kind. I did not write the tune. It's my version of a song written by Chris Tomlin. Here's a link to the original tune.
Here's another "Bass Orchestra" song and also another tune written by Chris Tomlin tune. It's an older tune but I've always loved it.
My goal is to release an instrumental worship CD by Christmas 2012.
I used my fretted Roscoe CS6J+ and fretless Roscoe 3006 on this tune and it was recorded using Reason 6.0
