I can't overstate the value of this. You get responses to your questions. Quickly....darn near instantaneously, in fact. And they're accurate. And thorough. Absolute A+ here. This may seem like an obvious kind of thing, but for those, like me, who have dealt with other "internet savvy" stores over the years, Greg is literally head & shoulders above the crowd. 2. He treats the small stuff like big stuff.
Over the years I've bought a number of small things from Greg - cables, bags, yada yada. Last week I bought a Roscoe bass from him. Want to know the difference in how Greg handled each transaction? There wasn't one. I was treated like a valued customer, whether the total was $62 or > $3,000. 3. He speaks our language.
Greg is an outstanding bass player who walks the walk more than he talks the talk. He's got the experience to know what works well, and while he'll give you an honest opinion if you desire it, he'd rather ask you about your needs to get you the right gear. On both fronts, you know you're getting objective information to help you make the correct choice. 4. Price? Value? Yes.
The elephant in the corner, right? How much is this going to cost? Are you giving me a better deal than I can get elsewhere? Hard for me to answer specifically...long ago I learned that if you shop solely on price, you get exactly what you paid for. (Excuse the dangler there.) Works great for toilet paper. But for a bass...an amp...the right speaker cable? Not so much. No doubt Greg is aggressive and incredibly fair, but what you really get for your dollar spent is immense value. His expertise and rock-solid reputation mean that you're making a well-informed purchasing decision, with no concerns about after-sale support.
I'm very lucky - I happen to live only a few miles away from one of the finest music stores on the planet. Accordingly, in terms of both product selection and service, I've come to expect a very high standard...one that most stores simply aren't capable of meeting...or they're just not inclined to take the necessary steps to do so. Rocket, and our man on the scene, Greg...exceed that standard, and FWIW I can't recommend them highly enough. Happy shopping! |

Ok, just kidding. Maybe Truth be told there are very few businesses/people that I recommend without *any* hesitation. Rocket/Greg is at the top of that list. |

SAME PERSON. Even knowing I'm not buying right away. Treats me as though I'd bought $40,000 worth of gear.
I WILL buy from Rocket every chance I get. God willing.
God Bless, Ray

I also think Gard is awesome. A little Roscoe specific here, but Gard will also go the extra mile. It's so awesome to be able to talk to the guys running the show - be it retailer or in the luthier shop.
Much appreciated guys. |

Much appreciated guys. | FWIW:
1) This is all about what a great guy Greg is, and he IS a truly good egg...so, let's not lose focus. (But, thanks!)
2) I'm not a luthier, I'm a lucky bassist with meager management skills that got lucky enough to get the gig at Roscoe handling the non-bass-building stuff. I'd never make that claim, not when guys like Tony, Ryan, Moxie, and especially Keith are around me all day long...I'm not even a HACK at building (I am at least a hack at playing, and fair to middling at giving a proper setup...)

Did I ever mention my Norway connection? My Dad was in the U.S. Navy, and we were stationed in Scotland around 1980 (when I was 10-ish). The ship he was on was a submarine tender, a big ship that could repair and re-supply submarines in the field so to speak. Anyway, the ship (the U.S.S. Holland) had a father/son cruise to Norway, so my brother and I got to accompany my dad (plus the entire crew and many other sons) across the North Sea. We tooled around Bergen and Oslo for a few days, then turned around & headed back to Scotland. What a great experience for a 10-year old kid like me. My older brother, not so much (he was sea sick and puking most of the way). LOL.
My folks downsized earlier this summer, so my brother and I were going through tons of Navy memorobilia that my folks had accumulated over the years. A big crate full of the stuff that I wanted arrived here at Rocket Music from Seattle (where they retired) earlier this sumer. I've been going through it bit by bit, and I just found some items from that long ago trip to Norway. Ah, memories!
