It's not ideal digs, but it will let me create things like this clip that will show you what these basses sound like.
In my practice sessions, I've been figuring out various popular melodies and then trying to backfill the chord changes that I hear underneath the melody. Once I get a crude chord-melody sort of thing worked out where I play both at the same time poorly, then I'll whip out the loop station and try to make it come to life more fully. This tune is one of the latest I've worked out. Don't quote me on the chords, there was no sheet music or other reference material used. I also recorded this like Victor often does his loops - I noodled over the chords first, and then I give you a taste of the melody later so you get an "Ah-hah" moment if you didn't already recognize the tune.
Here's the complete mix with lots of EQ, panning, FX, etc. going on: "OTR" Complete Mix
Next up are the raw individual bass tracks with all of the EQ, panning and FX removed. This is the bass going into a tube DI ( the REDDI by A-Designs) then straight into the USB interface. "OTR" Bassline Only "OTR" Chords Only "OTR" "Snare" Only "OTR" Leads Only
The bass track is all neck pickup w/ a slight bass boost. The chords track is all bridge pickup w/ flat EQ. The "snare" track is both pickups w/ flat EQ. The first melody is both pickups, and the second melody is all bridge pickup. The slap breaks are both pickups. EQ was flat on all the "leads" (as best I recall).
You lika da bass?

What a fantastic bass...I played a five-string recently, and was knocked out. |

Could you tell that I've been working on playing over changes?!? 3-4 loops ago in my practice sessions, it just started clicking. And it was this chord/melody stuff I've been doing that made it happen. Sure, I've still got a loooong way to go (I'd call my intro lead stuff fairly juvenile), but I'm pretty tickled none the less. I've finally started talking sentences rather than just phrases! Woo-hoo! |

And the bass just sounds fantastic, too. Not quite a hijack, so hopefully you won't mind a similar sample, here's my Mike Lull P/J. This was the first thing I recorded when I got my home setup running. The tune is Duke's "Don't Get Around Much Anymore." Bass line = neck (P) pickup, melody = bridge (J) pickup, and the chords have the blend knob centered. No blowing over the changes, although if you do need a sleep-aid, I posted a similar version with a solo over in the Roscoe forum. Anyway... Lull P/J - Duke |

I have been watching that bass on ebay since you listed it for sale. I sure wish that you offered a "Talkbass discount"; if you did, I would sell ALL of my 4-string basses (except for one vintage 60s P-Bass, which never leaves the house, and will be passed-on to someone in my family in my will)!!!
That bass is just SICK, as is your playing ... and I mean that in only the best sense!

Doug | Hi, Doug - Lull is one of those brands (like Roscoe, Bergantino, Rivera, Boogie etc.) that do not allow their dealers to discount their products. I would if I could, but I can't (nor can any other dealer who's playing on the up & up).
That said, if there's anything else you need at roughly the same time (a Genz-Benz head or cab? Any pedal(s)?), I could work some magic on a package deal...
Thanks for the kind words! And please let me know if I can help in any way! |

Love the bass, and definitely love the clips. Great vibe, at first I was all "hmm, I know that, what is it......" then you dropped a taste of the usual melody, and I was all "awwwww yeah!"

Thanks for the kind words! And please let me know if I can help in any way! | -- Wish I had some extra cash, and could afford to put a package purchase together. I already have a Genz-Benz Streamliner 900 and a great Epifani Series I UL 2x12 cab, plus more effects pedals (and basses) than I really need, but who knows, maybe there's something else that I could put in a package with this fabulous Lull TC! That is just one fabulous bass!!!
