Oooops - I forgot the signal chain details. This was my Roscoe Century Sig V going into my Alembic F1X preamp and Alembic SF2 superfilter into a Crest CA4 power amp into my Bergantino NV-610. The bass signal went direct into the mixing board from the F1X, but the cab is also bleeding into several of the other mics.

Hmmmm... I think I butchered Craig's vocal line in "Hate To Lose" in a couple spots. There are a couple of mis-timed phrases that sound like I unintentionally chopped and move them digitally. Sonar can do some funky stuff like that if you're not careful with your mouse. Time to remix that one...

**EDIT - I remixed and just replaced the MP3 above for "Hate To Lose"

2004?

You guys are a ton of fun to watch live - hope to see the 'shed around B'burg/Floyd again soon (Floyd = Roanoke in distance but for some reason I prefer to drive to Floyd!)

Thanks, Allen. Yep, Sunken Garden is my new favorite venue, and The Pine Tavern over in Floyd is a very close second...

I think we'll be back at the Sunken Garden sometime in September. The owner apparently pulled George aside after the show and demanded we come play there again.

The funny thing is this: 2004 and 2010 are the same calendar-wise for July. July 24 2004 was a Saturday also.

I haven't been there to watch live music before, though my wife has. I'll watch for the September date you guys play there again! Hopefully we'll be free to come out.

Are you suggesting I'm some sort of idiot savant? Or just an idiot?

Or, my guess, and a handy situation for a bassist...

A timing savant..... even when you go off time, you're still in time.

Here's another pretty good clip. We haven't done any overdubs so far... and it shows in this one. So please ignore the few nasty notes, and enjoy the ride.

Danny takes the first solo, and it's... well, I guess "epic" is the nice way to describe it. "Too long" would also be a valid description. Danny was trying to get the dynamic swell that the second guitarist (Craig) gets in his solo, but George and I weren't helping him much in that regard.

This tune has evolved over the years. It used to be that we spread the dynamic movement across the soloists. Danny would come in strong and stay strong for a reasonable length, then the keys would come in dropped way down and slowly build, then the second guitar solo would come back in and rip us out. Well, now all of the soloists want to give us hard and soft in each solo, so what should be a 5-6 minute tune is clocking in over 10 minutes every time... we need to fix that.

One fun bass fact - I turned on my MXR octave pedal towards the end of Craig's solo. With my signal going direct, we unfortuntely don't get the full effect on tape. It was massive and uber-powerful on stage (and hopefully out in the house). And Craig (who usually shoots me a hairy eyeball whenever I step on a pedal), well, Craig smiled and really got off on it. Progress!!

"In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed" (Allman Brothers)

I hope I'm not boring you guys with all these clips, but I'm having a ball finally hearing this band that I've been in for 10+ years "live" for the first time... what a trip!

We've got several different tunes we use to close our shows, and this medley was the pick that night. It almost always features a nice guitar shootout between Danny and Craig. And this time, they gave us two! I panned them pretty hard in opposite directions, so their trading bounces back and forth across the speakers. Pretty cool!

This last track, sounds like a tune the Rolling Stones do as well, right?

Yep, I was a die-hard fan for a bunch of years before I finally got to join... it always sucked being in the crowd thinking "man, I could do that!".

That wouldn't suprise me, the Shed used to do a bunch of Stones stuff before George and I joined. But that mostly fell by the wayside as we allowed the band to focus more on and expand it's niche (allmans/little feat styled stuff). So maybe this is a Stones hold out from the previous era
