We're trying to get more guitar recordings & videos pushed out of our new shop. In that vein, Danny and I revisited "Southern Lady" this weekend. Danny had recorded all of his guitar tracks through a Roland VG-8 digital processor way back in the day. I made the most out of those tracks that I could, but we decided this weekend to "upgrade" the guitar tracks and show off a PRS guitar and a Zinky amplifier. While I was at it, I also brought to bear a bunch of the tricks that I've learned since then as far as making the drum tracks and bass track sound better.
So here's where we started (the mix from a year ago):
"Southern Lady" (Mix 4)
After we setup the new guitar signal chain
(PRS Swamp Ash NF -> Zinky Mofo 112 Combo -> Peulso CEMC6 mic) and laid some fresh geetar tracks, here's where we ended up:
"Southern Lady" (Mix 5)
Hopefully, that's an improvement!

I didn't touch any of the recorded bass track, although I did mess with EQ, panning, FX, etc. So that's still the same Gadow bass track as I played it a year or so ago. Here's the raw bass track (all FX, panning, etc. removed):
"Southern Lady" (Bass Track Only)
And here are the raw guitar tracks. Hopefully this is useful info for any guitars players interested in the PRS Swamp Ash NF model. My general comments are this: with the swamp ash body and maple neck w/ maple fretboard, the Swamp Ash NF has much more bite that your typical PRS guitar. It's got a bunch of gorgeous, versatile tones in there, and the guitar was a perfect match for this tune. It's a rock-n-roll machine!!
"Southern Lady" (Main Riff)
"Southern Lady" (Chorus Riffs)
"Southern Lady" (Lead)
While we're at it, let's also take a look at the two gorgeous instruments used on the latest mix:
Gadow Custom 5-String (Spalted Quilted Maple)
PRS Swamp Ash NF (Angry Larry)
