Upcoming Roscoe Build--revisited

Long story short, I screwed up the old thread by accident so it wasn't visible on the TB app on my Droid, so I am just starting a new one.

Here's the specs, lemme know what you think:

Century 3005-J
Swamp ash body
Burl myrtle top
Wenge plate between top and body
Cocobolo w/sapwood fretboard
Maple/wenge/maple neck
35" scale
20mm string spacing at bridge
Bartolini J pickups
Bartolini 3 band preamp
Diamondwood nut
Wood 12th fret inlay
Gloss finish
Black hardware
Hardcase

AND, Gard sent me a pic of a top that he thinks is THE one for me.

I think I agree with him.

Thoughts?

Wow man, sounds and looks awesome.

Reminds me of this guy from Looney Tunes:

love the specs; 20mm spacing, wow- different.

Can't wait to see the results. Awesome.

The 20mm spacing came from the Warwick SSI's I owned in the past.

I realize it's not for everyone, but it's what I'm most comfortable with (my current 5 has 20mm bridge spacing, and my 6 has 19mm spacing).

Thumbs up

Great looking top! It really does appear to have a face!

That should look great finished. The spec's sound right in line for you too. I can handle 19-20mm spacing on a 5'er but not a 6'er. That's bit of a stretch for my hands.

I'm looking foward to seeing this one come together.

That is EXACTLY what I thought of too.

It would be neat to see the top with the plexi template beside it. OH GARD??

Love the specs Ryan.

I'd actually like to see that, too, to see just where the figuring is gonna be on the body.

Gard is setting the top aside, and I'll be sending Greg a deposit early next week to make this official and get it started.

Question...
With the 20mm string spacing is the fingerboard wider than the standard?

Yep, but not sure by how much. It's wider at both the nut and the 24th fret.

I'm late, as usual. Just awesome, Ryan. Congrats to you. I cannot wait to hear what amazing music you'll play with this instrument.

Yes, going with any wider (or narrower, as well) will not only change the size/shape of the neck, but also the way the neck pocket is cut on the body. This is why there is an additional charge for doing custom string spacing, our templates do not account for this, so it takes a lot of custom hand shaping.

Thought so but I wasn't sure. The education continues.

Leave it to me to make extra work for you guys.
