The Bird and The Bee

Hiked up to my cheap seats all the way at the very back of the Hollywood Bowl last night just as The Bird and The Bee were walking on stage. Saw the bass player with a big afro, thought it was you. Then when she announced your name, I turned to my girlfriend, who thinks I am a forum dork, and said, "hey look, that bass player posts on that bass forum I'm always on." She agreed not to make fun of me anymore about forums. Thanks JMJ.

Also to keep this gear-oriented, the bass sounded really good, even in the back. What were you playing through, it's hard to tell from the very back?

Ha! Funny. Glad you liked.

I was playing a Gibson RD Artist w/ old flats through Aguilar AG500, DB112, and DB115.

Playing on that stage was a complete dream for me.

Best,
JMJ

Cool. Flats are where it's at.

How do you decide what rig to bring to a gig like that?
How do you like the DB112 and DB115 together? I had a DB112 and wish I hadn't sold it. That thing had some serious kick for a 112.

What to bring? Well, I knew that my stage volume couldn't be crushing, I was parked right next to a Steinway. So I just thought those cabs would be cool, I dunno. Didn't really think about it too much. Those cabs sound great as a pair. I like. Punchy, but big.

I can only imagine how much fun it is to play I Can't Go For That with these guys. I LOVED the Hall & Oates tribute album. Stellar versions of some already great tunes.
