Black or Natural Ripper?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi Justin just a quick question,
I´m looking for a Gibson Ripper bass. which one is better the black one or the natural one? They seem to be different in many ways.
It would be great if you felt like explaining a bit, since I noticed you had both.
I have a G-3 already and like it in many ways, but I have a feeling that these ones have an even more distinct character, and since I live in Iceland most of the time I can´t really jump to the next vintage mega store to check it out.

many many many thanks,
Valdi

I've a black one and I'm biased, but I'd recommend the black. Has much more Mojo.

I have both. I like my natural one better. Don't know why. Mojo, I guess.

Gene Simmons played a black Grabber, so that makes it awesome, and Jerry Casale played a natural Ripper and sawed it to make it look more like a potato, so that makes it awesome as well.

I'd say it's a dead heat.
