Hi Justin,
I was wondering what you would recommend as an in ear monitor set up... Brand?

What do you have sent to you when you play live? Nin especially ( I know there has to be a lot going on)
Sequences? Kick/ snare vox?

My IEM's are Westone. They're pretty alright. I think there might be better ones out there than that.

My mix is fairly balanced, in fact. I like it to sound like music. Not some crude and loud amalgam of kick, snare, bass, vox.

Hey Zev - I run Westone plugs and they are great. My mix is pretty similar to Justin's in that I like a nice even mix of what's happening.

Essentially, we run a FOH feed to the monitors, a click and a separate keys feed, so that way we can add more keys if we need and obviously run the click.

There are some good threads on this in terms of brands for systems in the Live Sound section.

I have m audios & they have subwoofers in them. I had molds of my ears made at the audiologist. They are awesome but no matter what you do, they are always going to sound thin on stage. I typically roll off the drummer completely as he's plenty loud even with custom fitting monitors. I would also get the sound guy to mic the room & put that in a channel so you can get a little of the room ambiance. This makes all the diff in the world. I will say that really experienced sound guys really earn their money when using the in-ear systems - inexperienced guys just don't seem to get it right - and we have aviom mixers with us where we can mix them ourselves. I do hear great things about the Westones & you can spend a lot on them, if you choose...
