No guy-liner, no Fender consultation... That's been a hard and fast rule since the CBS days. :^P

Well played, sir! I think a JMJ Signature Fender would go over quite well, personally.

I'd be down for that.

And CONGRATS Justin!

Maybe we should petition Guild/Fender to do a JMJ signature Starfire, and have it made in the American Patriach line (i.e. made to order US Guild custom shop).

I think it would be popular, a lot of guys in the main Starfire thread on this board wanted the same things JMJ did for this reissue.

You guys flatter me.

But seriously, whatever it takes. I'd be completely down, obviously. The point being: this instrument has to get made right. I would certainly insure that IF somehow I was involved.

When I saw that Starfire I reissue, I automatically thought of you, Justin. But I was more than a little disappointed when Guild didn't announce a Starfire II at NAMM. Perhaps you just need to give the folks at Fender AR a little prod here and there! And speaking of a JMJ signature bass, would you be more inclined to do a Precision or a Starfire II signature? I know they're both staple instruments for you.

Also, Starbucks was offering a free Tegan & Sara download recently called "Closer". Did you have a hand in that track, too?

I have a cunning plan!

Mike from Guild has been snooping around the lets talk guild forums a bit since NAMM.

I've created a petition, please spread the word and i'll try to get Mike's attention

Dudes!

Wow - how nice. A petition?? Amazing. Flattered beyond compare!

What can I do? If you guys get enough sigs, I can definitely get my people at Fender to take more strong notice...who knows? Could be good for all.

If I was to ever do a sig bass, it would quite literally be just this very thing. Done very, very right.

A post NAMM question for you, Justin. Did you perhaps check out Fano guitars? They've got a pretty cool take on a a non-reverse Thunderbird as well as a pretty interesting 32" scale hollowbody. Their style definitely seems in line with your own aesthetic.

I totally forgot. Grrrrr...I was supposed to meet Denis and check out the non-reverse T and I failed miserably. My daughter and I wanted to GTFO of there ASAP and I forgot about going to see him and to a few other key places. Dammit.

No need to explain to me, dude! As a (relatively) new father myself, I was really impressed/astonished to see that you were bringing your daughter to NAMM. I just thought Fano would be right up your alley.

A Fano dealer near me has really been singing their praises lately. And from what I've seen there, the Alt de Facto PX-4 (non-reverse T-bird) is pretty awesome. They've got Jason Lollar making them a T-bird style pickup for that bass, and I've been really impressed with the Lollar Jazz bass pickups that I put in one of my Fenders.

And to add to the "cool factor", the PX-4 that Fano had at their NAMM booth was finished like a closet classic Silvertone!

Yeah, that is just ridiculous. #2 of only 11? For $3.5k? That strikes me as something that a wealthy enthusiast would buy for their music room and not someone that was interested in $3.5k of practical instrument to gig/record with. I’m a cynical asshat though… :^)

I love the cherry though.

I have a PX4 (the NR Thunderbird) and I love it. As a fan of yours and having a general feel for your taste in instruments, I think you would really dig it. I'm sure there are some shops in the LA area that stock Fanos. If not, they're built in Arroyo Grande, CA, which is in the Central Coast area I believe.
