Octave pedal: I use it all the time, I can't think of a specific recording as of now. I use my BOss OC-2 the most, typical setting: direct 100%, octave 1 down at about 2 o clock. I like that sound.
My Walkabout - I use it still on and off. I don't really know what specifically I've used it for, but suffice to say all kinds of stuff. What a great amp. I just wish it had a defeatable fan...it gets just a bit loud in the studio, unless you close it off somewhere.

On the NIN rig, what did you use the Presonus Bluetube preamp for, and why?
Just curious, thanks! |

Best,

Quick question about the Traynor YBA 1 in the pic of your old studio setup. You still use it? More of a reamp vibe or are/were you going straight through?
I've got an old bassman that I dig and I've heard these are comparable. I've only used mine miked straight and combined w DI but you've talked about reamping thru a JTM 45 before, which these have also been aligned with. Just curious how you use(d) it. Thanks for any info! |

| | | | Hi, I use my Traynor as a second amp for another texture along w/ a B15. But I have to say, it's pretty great on its own. I probably don't need to add the B15 in the mix during certain circumstances. But when I use it as that "third sound", I usually hit it hard with something like a MXR MicroAmp or even an Ibanez 808 so I can have more control over the gain. Mine in particular doesn't clean up completely, so that's why I use it more for a slightly hairy sound.
Best,
JMJ

Tried the TH 500 or SL cabs? How do they compare to the ag500?
Thanks

| | | | SL 112's. I got two. They are huge and weigh nothing. Inexplicable. They have balls, and take effects well. I don't get it.
Eventide "Space" pedal. Just stunning in every way. I ended up designing presets for it. Exquisite. Rivals my studio high-end outboard verbs for richness and density of the tails.
Fender American Deluxe P Bass. Trent got one, so I was prompted to check it out...just arrived at my studio a few days ago. Surprise - it's great. Everyone knows I don't like active. But this bass sounds great passive or active. Love.

Thank you for taking the time for this forum!
I was wondering if you would compare the SL´s sound to the DB line?
Best Regards

The Walkabout would seriously be one of the most killin' amps in the studio if it wasn't for the fan. JMJ, do you still use yours? |

| | | | Sure. I just have to look at it like one of my old SVT heads (which have loud-ass fans), and deal with the noise accordingly.

The second you start playing, it gets drowned out. And if you're in a studio and it bugs you, you can just run a long speaker cable to your cab and keep the head away from open mics. And with a lot of these fans today, they're so quiet that you actually have to try to be irritated by it. I suppose I shouldn't be bothered when other people are bothered by something I find unimportant, but I've found that standard operational amp noise through a cab is often louder than the fans these days, so I don't get it.

One of many reasons I need to put together enough $ to buy a separate cab. I'm just rolling w/ the Scout 1x12 right now.... |

I usually run a long cable to the cab in another room when I use it for tracking, but it is so loud that it bugs me in the control room!! He he he. It sure is a good sounding head though. I can put up with the fan. :^)

| | | | one solution to the fan noise problem is to replace it with a quieter fan. |
