Near field monitors

Hi Justin,

I was wondering, from your personal home recording experience and also from visiting different home/small studios of your friends and collegues, what you think are some of the best decent budget (app. 500$ a pair) studio monitors for small to medium sized rooms.

Thanks!

Hmmm...

I don't know much about what's in that price range, but I will say that Adam A3X's are amazing, but a little out of that range, perhaps. But stunningly good for their size. I have the bigger Adam A7X's and love them, along with ProAc's and Acoustic Energy AE1's.

You could also search for a used pair of Adam A7's and see where those land in price.

Good luck,
Best,
JMJ

That's a rad off-topic shift. Here you go:

Bad Brains "Banned in D.C."
Dead Kennedys "Nazi Punks F*** Off"
Black Flag "Rise Above"

Best threadjack evur.

KRK monitors are pretty sweet if you're short on cash. Musicians Friend has some special edition version of the Rockit 6 for $150 each... pretty cheap for a pretty decent monitor.

These would fit in perfectly between Heard It through the Grapevine and Le Freak.
