Hey Justin,

What's the scoop on Spectrasonics Omnisphere? Seems like the ultimate synth plugin and well worth the five hundred dollar price tag. And if Kate Bush's Omnisphere-powered "Lyra" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcGaDlGPBsk) is any indication of how beautiful this thing can sound, I'm sold!

I picked it up along with loads of other fun software from a friend who jumped into computer music too quickly for his own good.

Short answer: It's awesome.

Long answer: HOLY CRAP IT'S AWESOME!!!!!

Obviously, I got a huge discount but I think it's pretty close to being worth the full price and I'm only a hobbyist. For someone who does this kind of stuff for a living it's more like a steal. The voice patches are particularly sweet sounding. I have yet to hear voice samples that sound better. It really is a beautiful plugin. Get Trillian and some drums a grand piano and there's very little else you'll actually need to make amazing music

Just my 2 cents here, but I've been using Omnisphere since it was released, and LOVE it. It is a very deep, complicated synth, but can also be used very easily with the ridiculous amounts of presets. I seriously think it would take a lifetime to discover everything it has to offer. Personally, I mostly use it for pads, strings, voices, etc... But, it has amazing leads, bass, and even some sounds that really don't have a category. Like burning piano, flicked glass, light bulbs, etc. Also, if you use Stylus and/or Trilian, it communicates very well with them.

Omnisphere is well worth the pricetag.

Runs fine on my 2006 MBP 2.16GHz / 4GB. The extra RAM helps a lot and you may want to have a fast HDD...
