PJ setups?

Hey JMJ,
It's been a while since I've posted a question, which doesn't necessarily mean I'm out of questions!
Since PJ basses have become more popular recently, it seems to me, I wanted to see if you have any in your modest collection, and what your thoughts would be?

Hope all else is well!

Dude I use my Fender Tony Franklin fretted PJ ALL THE TIME in the studio these days. It's so good. Also, my two new-ish Yamaha BB's and older BB3000 are PJ, and they smoke.

Never thought I'd be down, but these days, I'm just loving that sound.

Love those Yammis...may need to give the Tony Franklin a try!

JMJ...assuming you are using flats on your Franklin?

J: you have a couple of those yamahas; are you rockin' both the passive and active models?

Only passive.

I like reverse PJ...I've got a BB1200 bass w/ a single P reversed, and it sounds cool...nice fat G and D string tone. BUT: I think the E and A suffer verrrry slightly.

Interesting to see that change, I would expect the inherent brighter tone of the PJ is inevitable, you would be using flats!
Though I got a PJ set with rounds and love the tone, it's usually the active basses I use flats on (MM for instance).
That tony franklin is a beast of a bass, fretted and fretless! Not a big fan of his playing, but he sure made one great signature bass, which is an interesting change from fenders usual "signature" endeavors!

I think the Tony Franklin bass is the finest signature bass they've ever met....well, that and the Custom Shop Pino Palladino...my other fave.

I heard Matt Freeman from Rancid rave about the Tony Franklin bass as well. But no love for the Roscoe Beck V?
