| I think I could be convinced that it's a great way to go. But something about it feels a little too distant, and I'm not just talking about latency. It's something that's hard to pin down. Trent had it going on the last NIN tour. I'm not sure for me if I could do it and still feel like I'm rocking, though the sonic possibilities are deeper than w/ pedals.
Live is so great with plugs (especially if you get Max for Live) that, in the right format, it could be really interesting indeed.
And my comment about it feeling too "distant" goes for anything: NI Guitar Rig, Amplitube, Mainstage, Live, whatever.
I have all the tools, I just never use that stuff outside of a studio format. It would be easy enough for me to try it all out.
Best,
JMJ
