Sara Bareilles distribution/release

Hi Justin!

After repeatedly hearing about it in this very forum, I finally decided to check out "Kaleidoscope Heart".

So I went to Amazon.DE (I'm in Germany and *hate* the Itunes software).

But it's only available as an "import" CD costing 16 Euro, that's about 20 USD! It's not available as an MP3 album at all.

In the US, it's available as a digital download for $5.00! Of course, they're clever enough to block my purchasing attempt.

So what's up with there apparently being no European distribution for "Kaleidoscope Heart"?

Thanks, I'll check it out!

There was another layer to my question that I hoped Justin may have some input on, but I guess it wasn't that obvious from my OP.

Regarding "label strategy":

With digital distribution being so easy, why would a label decide to not release something all over the world?

I could understand not wanting to press thousands of physical CDs, but why not make the digital release available worldwide?

As a long-time observer, I have to say that there really isn't any logic to most record company behavior.

You know, I really don't know the answer. I know why in terms of the physical, but the digital I'm not sure.
