Here's the first in a series: daily (or weekly, or whenever) thoughts from "the field". Kinda like tweets, I guess. They may or may not be interesting, and may or may not lead to further discussion. But I thought what the hell. Here's the first, and boy is it a weak one:
I've got a long day of studio ahead of me. Feeling sluggish this morning. Solution: backwards stretching on the yoga ball, and NO SUGAR today.

just kidding...that's actually probably a very good idea laying off the sugar and exercising. sugar can make you crash hard after it picks you up.

Planes, buses, sleep (or lack of) and still getting up on stage with the energy that you look like you have been resting for the last month?
Do you follow a similar regimen when you have a long recording stint?

| | | I'm SO lame.
This afternoon, I'm at Leno. Helping Sara Bareilles and her band with some music direction, not playing. Then tonight, doing some keyboard programming w/ M83. Then after that, a remote session at my place for Charlotte Martin. Busy.

| | | | I did her record and Sara hired me because she heard I do MD work as well, so her label (Sony) got on it, and I've been with them every day in rehearsal this week, and Leno today. Just tightening it up: vocals, sounds, arrangements, horn parts, etc. That's an oversimplification, but that's what I've been up to with her. In stark contrast to making shoegaze/dreampop every night with my French homies M83. What a weird life I have. Anywho, great bunch of guys in her band, and Sara's a great talent and incredibly cool and fun to work with. It's a good Thursday so far.
Best,
JMJ
